I've been hunting for about 6 years so still a newbie. But I have the Sig BDX scope and range finder and have loved them from day one when I sighted in my rifle. Sure the scope is a little heavier than others due to the electronics inside but not by much. In my opinion the results you get down range after pulling the trigger are worth the little extra weight.

Tried this BDX integrated scope/binocular system with the Sig Sauer Cross PRS in 6.5 Creedmoor just yesterday at Sig Freedom Days event at Ben Avery range in Phoenix.......my gaaaaawd! It is absolutely mind-blowing how well the red dot adjusts quickly at different ranges with all the BDC calcs done for you automatically! I only shot at 100 yd and 300 yd with the Sig rep spotting but i was able to come on target quite easily, despite never having fired the rifle. Also, another Sig rep there informed me that Sig Sauer recently purchased an ammo manufacturing facility so they actually manufacture their own rounds now which is definitely a plus. This system is absolutely incredible. FYI, if there's a Sig Freedom event near you - I highly recommend attending as you'll get to try a wide variety of Sig pistols and rifles. Thanks for your review video. Subscribed.

Recoil kills scopes. especially 30.06 or 308. that type of technology even the existing current builds can't handle heavy semi auto 308. I think these scopes are for the light shooter.

It has not made hunting any easier as it doesn't change the need to find game or stalk within range without being detected. What it does it to reduce the chances of wounding animals, ensuring that I am able to take the most ethical shots possible.

This isn't for the average rifle range fan. I mean a rifle range is just that, distance is pre- ranged. I find that it's shooting steel and busting rocks when you can really impress your buddies. I adopted this back in 2019 and the first iteration had a steep learning curve and was maddening when the app would mandaIte an update before it would come up. So basically the rangefinder was out. In fact I had two range finders Kilo 2200, die right in the middle of a shoot. Justin at Sig EO shipped me a new one arriving overnight FEDEX. The first iteration of this platform had issues and SIG would have made life immesuraly more satisfying had SIG incluided a FLOW CHART. IT was over whelming. I just realized that without a RF and just the Phone paired to the scope you must switch off in the sight module on the off the Ballistic reticle "off" while it's off it still pairs phone bdx app to scope and you get corrections based on availabilty of weather service. One you come up the curve you'll be giddy and the system is so well thought out. I shot teamed up with a buddy and man is it fun. I bought extra rangefinders just in case. Honestly, its; near impossile to hold a RF on a target 1200m away.I hold the RF pressed against my optic to steady and make my shot. If you're only shooting to 400yds with optics this doesn't make sense, but it you are interested in going yard, and are not a trainned marksman you'll agree it's fantastic. My wife loves it, I told her to,

@EastmansHuntingJournals
@EastmansHuntingJournals 2 жыл бұрын
All of the Sig scopes are clear. The biggest decision to make is weight and features. Because we hunt in the backcountry a lot, we gravitate towards the lighter 44mm scopes, but if weight isn't a consideration, the 52mm will gather more light and have a wider field of view.
@adloutdoors
@adloutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that reply. We do a lot of open plains and a lot of longer-range hunts in Southern Idaho. Never used a 6.5 -20x52 power scope. Wondered if it would fill the spot. I appreciate the info.

What did you end up getting? I got my cross in 308 and slapped the 44mm on it and im clapping deer at 300yards all day. I was going to go for the 20 zoom but the cross is an incredibly light rifle so I didn't want to add more weight than necessary.
@adloutdoors

@@dethtour I went back and forth with a Meopta Optika 6 3-18x50 and Leupold 3-15x44. I love the Meopta but the weight is noticeable at 30oz VS 19 oz. I did get a Leupold 4-24x52 but ended up putting it on my 7mm. I love that scope and took a big buck at 338 yards last month. I will keep looking for the right scope for my Sig. I've been waiting for my can that has been held hostage since last April, so I didn't hunt with it this season. Anyway, I really like the bigger objective because we always seem to take our deer late in low light. I am hoping Sig puts out hunting scopes with at least 50mm objectives, but still considering. Thanks for your input on the 44mm!

If you own a scope with a MOA or MIL reticle you can set your range finder to the ballistics of your shooting platform, the ranger finder will tell you the hold over. I have a Leupold Mark 4 in MIL with the H-37 reticle and also use this with the SIG range finder. The only advantage I can see with the SIG scope is the ability to see your hold over with out the need to count your hash marks, but then if your really familiar with your equipment you should be OK..

Almost always, yes. But Vizio used to make TVs with awesome little slide-out-keyboard remotes, those worked through Bluetooth. Some Roku and RokuTV remotes do not work through IR either, you don't have to point them at the device they control, although I don't know if they use specifically Bluetooth as their protocol.

Nice review! Just want to know about the windage. Does the range finder also calculates the wind drift? or just the elevation. I cant find any review describing that thanks
@jamesdewer
@jamesdewer 4 жыл бұрын
hi it will need a data connection and will occasionally not pair phone to scope and will tell you "no wind data avail connect to net work" I almost lost it. I get the opportunity to hunt 2x a year. I just haven't had luck with BDX. lifetime warranty is there for a reason. The Rangefinder took a shit requiring a factory update in the middle of no where. Had to ship it in. Sig sent me a new sealed unit. but still, I wasn't at the time aware of the presets 1-10. Speaking of the Scope I have 3 BDX scopes my 3.5-8 which I have mounted on my AR10 16" carbine took a shit on me during a hike through a hot canyon. I was blasting boulders and needed to adjust windage. The witness mark broke free and to me that was game over. 400 yds even at 8x with a 308 it's impossible to be certain if you're sending ricochets into someone so lacking absolute control of shot placement I was lugging around a box of shells and a useless weight. I dunno what he's got it mounted on here but it appears these scopes can't handle recoil past 300 RDS of 308. I have a different set up on my 18" with a brake, AG6 Epsilon. I hope that's more gentle on the scope. I'm using Warne QD mounts and low rings. I digress. Sig need to make this video years ago. they need to drop the mandatory 4G updates which won't allow you to pair unless ALL DATA fields are complete and that requires signal. I don't give a crap about windage in a windless situation! why the Heck do I need signal to pair the phone to the scope? Sig needs to be crystal clear about usage instructions. a flow chart would cut the steep learning curve significantly. you could write a book about pairing the phone to the range finder. Sig should kill the scope and Kilo connection and make it phone to riflescope only. Folks this BDX is complicated. After I finally achieved consistency the equipment failed. Justin at Sig in Oregon was great and your warranty replacement items need to match. Scope and Box SN need to match otherwise return it to the seller immediately. Register your products CYA with Sig. replacements once inspected. About a day, are shipped 2nd day Fed Excuse. If you're in SF like me that's 1day shipping which I very much appreciate both ways. Sorry to be so.negative but just.my.experieces. I shoot often and safety is always paramount. If your uncertain and shooting with unzeroed gear you should be made to run naked downrange barefoot.

How the hell is the dot on the center of the reticle a 200 yard zero, and the 100 yard mark is lower on the reticle, causing you to have to do a holdover for 100 yd? And the 300 yd mark is higher up on the reticle than the 100 yd mark. Some shit is screwed up.

Mentioned "fair chase standards" -- Let's say the state wildlife management agency has determined the ecosystem needs less deer, hence the deer season bag limit. Now let's say Hunter X goes out to get some deer, hopefully the full bag limit. The deer will go to Hunter X's freezer for the next 12 months' meat with all excess meat going to Hunters for the Hungry or similar charity. What's the moral basis for making it harder for Hunter X to bag those deer? Why is it "immoral" for Hiunter X to feed the fam + plus a fair number of otherwise malnourished people if Hunter X, for example, hunts from a blind 70 yards downwind from a feeder? Is that less fair that eating an antibiotic laden chuck roast from a steer taken from a fenced pasture? Did "indigenous people" 400 years ago refuse to eat venison when one of the tribe bagged a deer in an "unfair" manner? Inquiring minds would really like a logical response (rather than tropes and insults).
