For that bent transom, you might have been able to push that bowed part back out with a bottle jack between the transom and rear seat face. At least enough to get it closer. That may have allowed one good bead across the top instead of 3. Nice job though.

To much rocking for me I will rather sit and work the front motor that way. I said if I get the beaver tail pods and it work I would keep it. If not I’m looking to sell and get a14x48. Thank you in regards to the comment, on this pod build I used .1 25 and then for filler rod I did 4043 in 1/ 8th inch I also ran my torch pretty hot to melt my filler rod a little faster to get nice welds.

good deal on the pods, what guage or thickness aluiminum? why have drain plugs if it's air tight? I don't weld, can I braze the pod like isn't that just as stronge as welding? I have a 24' aluiminum vessel beam is like 75" I'd like to make some pods for how big can they be? thanks an excellent video.

Looking to build a set of these for a 16' v hull with a 50hp 4 stroke on it. It's a little heavy in the back with the 2stroke trolling motor. Thinking I need to make one on the kicker side to accept the trolling motor and the other as a boarding step. As well as a location for the transducer. Is this too much of a project?
@co-opoutdoorsandhunting2333 жыл бұрын
Thanks in regards to your comment i would definitely consider doing pods, it wouldn’t be to much work to get everything set up, its all in the initial prep work and design.

would you build a set for someone if they sent you the info for the boat that you would need? and be willing too ship them ? obviously would be paying for you services and the shipping .

I have been thinking about adding pods or pontoons to my 14 foot john boat to make it more stable. Just not sure how to go about it to swing them over the sides or weld them to the side would make it wider and not fit on the trailer.

I would recommend pods over pontoons for 14 foot

Hey guys awesome video. This is exactly what I've been looking for. I've wanted to build a set on my 1636 Jon Boat for a while now. I was wondering what you think would be the thinnest material I could use for a build? I am kinda limited with the amperage for my Tig welder, for now, so I was thinking maybe I could make them out of 12 gauge, 14 gauge, or 16 gauge aluminum. Maybe even braces inside? What are your thoughts?
@co-opoutdoorsandhunting2334 жыл бұрын
Thank you in regards to the comment, for pods that you are wanting to stand on and last a long time without any problems I wouldn’t go under 1/8 inch aluminum, what amperage are you running on your tig
@trapperdan934 жыл бұрын
@@co-opoutdoorsandhunting233 my tig will only make it to about 95 amps before the breaker trips. That was on mild steel. I haven't tried it yet on aluminum. I do plan on having the wiring and breaker upgraded sometime in the future, but for now this is what I'm working with.
@co-opoutdoorsandhunting2334 жыл бұрын
@@trapperdan93 if I was you I would wait until you can run at least 125 amps to insure you get good full penetration welds
