In my hometown we have underground "light rail" and tram and all three can go over / under or on the street The subway "mostly" runs underground The light rail travels mostly above the ground between 2 cities but also underground and the tram sometimes goes underground, but only if it is a 2-way wagon with doors on both sides .... by the way, "official declaration" from our public transport provider!!!!! ;)

Great idea and very nice effect! I might make two changes for my own layouts... offset the 2x4 tiles by 2 studs (ie. 2x2, 2x4, ..., 2x4, 2x2) so that cross-walks line up, and use unprinted 8x16 roadplates so that I can move the tram track into the middle (European style). Thanks!

On the first sight really attractive looking street but then I could not blend out gaps between plates. All looks to me rather a bit clunky that was not the case in the previous plate system. The other think is that one needs to winden the street with additional bricks to make it usable for the current vehicle lineup. In my opinion it is just sad. On the good side my vintage like 6693 or 6645 sets are actually still good for this width ;)

So, the roadplates are already higher than the sidewalks for modulars and now that you made the road plates even higher (baseplate + 2x4 tiles below, what did you do to compensate for that with your modular buildings. The problem I’m having is how do you instal a Switch Track without ballasting the track? This system works great until you want to add a switch while keeping it even with road. You’d have to put 2x plates under the road plate then the curbs become 1 plate high rather then two and everything gets screwed up. If anybody can explain to me how to add Train Track Switch into a mil plate while keeping road even with track and 1x plate under road plate I’d much appreciate it, thanks.

This kinf of new options for different types of road with new road system is great, like your great street with track. But I am still not convince of buying and using new road systems.... I just cannot stand the ugly ZigZag shape of the biggest part... I don't know... I still think, make a road with classic tiles would looks better. I know about the value/money... But still, cannot help myself, new road system looks like Junior Lego... Maybe, AFOL community can make it works, as you show us, but this is big MINUS for Lego from me...
