Installing a custom silding Rag top on a chevy caprice. 45 X 50 Silding Rag top from legacy.
If you contact legacy (www.sunroofsource.com) to have your custom 45x50 built Just tell them you want a sliding rag like Cappa’s caprice if your getting it for your caprice. It will be the max size for the car 2 door or 4 door!
2 yards should be plenty to cover your cars too if all your doing is a new canvas top.

The stuff is suede headliner on eBay if you search it. Basically I put a bit of glue around the edge of where the factory headliner would have ended and then some of the same landau glue on the aluminum rails. Stretch it as you go and cut the middle out later.

Mane that's nasty , big props on your build. I want too put one of those Rag top moon roofs in my 81 impala but real nervous on cutting on it, and what the long term effects of these open sun roofs on this cars??

I think it should be just fine. The aluminum frame braces it back up solid. It will have hydraulics soon so we will see too lol

So is there anything that actually creates a seal between the aluminum frame to the roof of the car to keep water out from car washes/rain?

The top itself is what keep rain and water out. I leave the car outside and never had a leak or anything. The top is 100% water proof and the same concept as any convertible. If you put a pressure washer at it maybe it would leak but I doubt it.

Hi brother cappa… I’m currently restoring an 89 Chevrolet caprice classic like yours… questions if i may: 1) is this a DIY project i can do solo, or is it difficult enough that’s it requires someone technically trained for body work restorative projects? Hello, this too isn’t very hard to install yourself. You can use a jig saw to cut the roof. This doesn’t leak in heavy rain fall or any natural water event. If you go through a car wash chances are water will get in a little. I’ve only ever got a tiny bit one time and it was with the pressure washer. I just use a garden hose now only when washing the car.

Thank man. The top was roughly 700.00 and the extra canvas to do the rest of the top was about 150.00. The trim that isn’t shown in this video on the belt line was laser cut stainless maybe 80.00 or so. I think the cost of them has came down a little so check it out. Mine is about the max size that you can fit without running into issues with internal braces.

@@stevenperea1399 that’s what I was told when I called but who knows. It seems like it probably wouldn’t have leaked. I haven’t had any issues with mine leaking thank god lol.

Just dropping my top onto my 31 Tudor Sedan…… how the hell do you get the top into the track once all of the frame is tightened down inside the roof?!? Scratching my head

You leave the front of the tracks loose on the frame and just hand tight the back. It was fairly easy watch the video and you can see me feed it in around 17:12

That’s what I have figured out, but in their friggen instructions it has them applying all of the gasket sealer first and tightening all of the nuts…… and then lastly it says to install the top into the frame!!?!? @@cappafpv the trim that goes along the bottom some people use the gold screw in snap to hold the trim on it’s made for the car that didn’t come factory with top

@@ExtremeKustomz615 I had mine made from a company called “Oshcut” but you need the file and it’s flat when it arrives. I had to custom bend it and make it fit snug. I have another set but this was made with stainless and I made it very thick so it’s crazy hard to shape.
