Do you need to let the pieces get dry after applying gundam marker or do you smudge right away?
@GiantRobolove2 жыл бұрын
@@user-ye7lp9lg1c That is a good question. I learned this the hard way. You definitely have to wait for the marker to dry a bit. Otherwise the paint comes off completely. There is a sweet spot, you'll have to experiment for yourself with a spare piece and see what works best for you. The longer you wait, the harder it gets to smudge and the more residue will be left.

Such a beautiful and well-made video. Being new to the hobby, this aesthetic was extremely welcoming and inspiring. Being a visual learner myself, this presentation was incredibly useful. Please make more videos like this!

Hey thanks for those kind words and welcome to the world of Gunpla. Are you looking for a specific kind of technique? As I'm still a beginner myself, I can try and go more indepth into my experiences with certain disciplines. Right now I kinda fell into the diorama rabbithole and future projects revolve around those. But I try to not neglect those beauty builds.
@Kevinjbeta2 жыл бұрын
@@GiantRobolove Honestly, as long as you keep the same editing aesthetic, I'll watch you do anything. I still can't believe how much I learned from this video, and how much it's helped me improve my weathering and panel lining. Take some aspects from the dioramas you've been enjoying - basing would be a logical next step. Not sure if you've played around with some color changing paint, but I'm currently on an airbrush journey to experiment with those paints from Turbo Dork and Vallejo ranges. I think you have tons to bring to the table with your presentation, and I really hope this channel takes off!
@GiantRobolove2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input. From a creator's point of view, these kind of comments really help. I've been toying around with the idea of doing multipart videos, so that I can go more in-depth with the topics. Funny that you mention airbrush. I'm currently on the final stretch of editing my newest video, which actually revolves around airbrushing. Not a tutorial video, more inspirational. Those colorshifting paints look amazing. I might try them some time. Thanks for the headsup!

@@GiantRobolove Regardless of what you end up doing - I'm really glad to have found your channel. You seem to have an excellent camera and good sensibility with lighting. Throw some stop animation in with your gunpla at the end of your videos to have the kit show itself off, and there's literally no reason why you won't hit 100k in a fee months of steady content. Mad love and all the good stuff! Looking forward to more from you!

I think as long as you enjoy the hobby, there is no need to pressure oneself into techniques that you feel uncomfortable with. After all, it's your very own journey and you do it for yourself :)

Impressive work. Lots of great detailing. The panel lines scribing is very effective in giving the kit a great look, more aggressive and menacing. Excellent weathering overall. Great result without any painting! Like the video style. What editing app did you use? How long did it take to make the video? Thanks!
@GiantRobolove2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks a lot. This one took quite a while to edit. I think the entire project took more than a month (not full time, was working on it after my day job) I'm using Adobe Premiere for editing and After Effects for all the animations. This video was an attempt to push the filmmaking a bit. It was fun and I'm trying to keep some of the elements of it for future videos, even though they are very time consuming to make.
@natalebabbo-gunplaanddioramas2 жыл бұрын
@@GiantRobolove thanks a lot! I agree that video editing is a time consuming job especially if you have a day job, like most of us do 😂.
@azuremountain2 жыл бұрын
im planning to use the same technique with the gundam marker for weathering, do you recommend smearing grey all over white plastic or do i have to be more precise? Also did you put anything on the brush while smudging the paint @10:34? if not, how long do i have to wait after apply the marker before smudging?
@GiantRobolove2 жыл бұрын
Hey, one thing before I answer your questions: ever since I did that video, I found a better way of doing the smudge technique. Instead of using a make up brush like this, use a melamine sponge. It gets rid of the paint better. Check out its results here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYW2pGdtbKeUZrc But if you can't get a hold of such a melamine sponge, the make up brush is fine as well. Go all over the piece, no need to be precise, you will have enough time to rub it off if you feel it was too much. I didn't add anything to it, just rubbed off the paint. Leave the paint on for at least a couple of minutes. Maybe 3-5 minutes? You can always try it on a spare part to get a feel for it. You can tell, when the color settles. If you wipe it off too quickly after applying, you will erase all of the color. So there is definitely a sweet spot that you need to find. If there is anything else I can help with, just ask :)

Mate, what app were u using to plan out the panel lines?

This was Clip Studio Paint. But I guess you could use any other paint app.
