Custom DIY HALLOWEEN MASKS from the past! Grimwood Hollow Yard Haunt

Thank you so much for watching, and I’m so glad you liked the masks! Mask making and creature/character sculpting has always been my favorite! That’s what I did quite a bit of when I worked in the movie industry doing special make up FX, and of course throughout the years for my haunted attractions! I think for my professional haunt “The Haunted Vineyard” I made over 150 custom masks! It was crazy! I have some videos on my channel showcasing the creation of all these masks if you are interested! Haha thanks buddy, I appreciate it!! Some were from Halloween costumes I did for me and Nichol, some were from my pro haunt, and a few from our yard haunts, but they were all fun to make! And just like me they are gettin pretty crusty and old!🤣😜👍

Thanks so much Derek! Yeah that was one of the first things I ever made when I started in the FX industry in ‘87, I was just 15 years old! I can’t believe it’s still around! I’m pretty sure I’m more crusty than that lil mummy head though haha! 🤣🎃👍

Duuuuuuude...every single one of your handmade masks = ICONIC !!!! my favorite one is the Old West Zombie 2012 (aka me, b4 coffee in the morning). the detail work is unbelievable and it's so cool that you have your 1st t.p. mask from '87. always look forward to your videos. @@GrimwoodHollow wow, really...quick? they look so well done and so scary...i thought for sure they took you a long time. what do you use for the teeth. it may sound nuts but seeing realistic human teeth on a mask ALWAYS makes it 10X's more scary to me.

@@brunom72 Yeah they actually were really quick haha! Unfortunately when I was working on The Haunted Vineyard and some of my other haunts I was juggling way too many tasks so I didn’t have a lot of time to spend on each mask. Most I sculpted and molded in the same day, it was nuts! Some of the teeth are real acrylic denture teeth, some I sculpted and cast in dental acrylic, and some are therma plastic teeth that I sculpted, and they all work great! Yeah, a set of good looking teeth can make any mask really come alive! Cheers😄🎃👍

I absolutely love the Zombie Bull! The mummy head is just getting better with age. For some of them being 15 years or older they are holding up great! Beautiful work as always Steve! You never disappoint!

I have a bunch of strategically placed eye holes that are carefully hidden within the design but it still really didn’t help haha! It was a tough one!🤪🎃🤣

All of your masks are very cool. You have an amazing amount of talent. I think "Vampirate", "Reptile Man", and "Scarecrow" are my favorites in that order. I have a few store bought latex masks from the 80's and 90's, and it is sad to see some of them turning brittle and literally crumbling away. It looks like your "Mummy Head" is holding up and may be looking better with age. Thank you for sharing your blast from the past mask collection.

Well thank you again so much my friend for the love n support, I really appreciate it! Some of the masks were sculpted/molded/cast, some were build up one offs, and some were sculpted masks that then I did a rotten skin build up on like the Bull Zombie! I use a number of techniques for mask making. I love sculpting a simple exaggerated base form, again like the bull, then do build ups on the finished cast latex mask to create many layers and textures that you really couldn’t achieve in a clay sculpture. I’m going to be doing some tutorials on this one day soon! Cheers!😄🎃👍
