This is criminally under subscribed. This is going to be the most complete factory plus build of a z32 on the net. Everything done right and now shortcuts with all factory equipment working as it should

Except for the HICAS 4WS system, because it was already deleted, doesn't always play the best with high power throughput on the rear wheels, and makes it really unpredictable to drift in, which is 90% of how you corner in a RWD car with 600HP. It's a neat bit of tech, but I can understand deleting it on a lot of really high power Z32 builds.

I just picked up myself a black tt slicktop 2+0 z32 in NSW, running & on the road but certainly needs a good refresh. I can sense that the information on this channel will be invaluable, Subbed!

Hopefully yours hasn't had any previous work done on it. It's a lot easier, as this series has shown, to just replace the stock components instead of needing to fix what someone else has improperly bodged.

@@mndlessdrwer Thankfully mine is completely stock, hasn’t even had the boost turned up. Great base to start with imo.
@mndlessdrwer2 жыл бұрын
@@tomfagan8505 that's a great place to start from. If you're planning to make some serious boost, there's still some things that need replacement: connecting rods, valve springs, block girdle, porting, etc. Obviously the turbos, wastegates, blowoff valves, intercoolers, headers, intake, etc. are a given. Most of those are quite optional, though, unless you're planning to exceed, like, 700HP. I mean, you can bump up quite a lot just by swapping fuel components for E85 compatibility, new injectors, new fuel regulator, and new blowoff and wastegate springs to increase boost compression. Pretty sure you could hit 350-400HP just by doing that. You might even be able to get away with skipping the new fuel system by running a higher octane and just fitting larger injectors and a new fuel regulator with the stiffer springs. I'm not super familiar with how much you can do with the stock ECU, since some manufacturers ECUs can be reflashed while some you just need to replace or intercept to control fuel mapping and overboost control.

After messing around with a vq35de engine harness for a twin turbo rebuild, all I can say is that your work is simply beautiful. I wish the harness came from the factory like your setup. I also wish I had your experience, time, tools and budget!

This stuff scares the shit out of me. Check out Rob Dahm and his rotary wiring job... A little overboard and apears to be very expensive way to do it, but pretty cool stuff. Keep it up sir.

You should check out the Bad Obsession Motorsports series. I think it's around episode 22 or so that they really start diving headlong into cobbling together electronics from three different vehicles, a fuse and relay box from a car unrelated to either of the vehicles used, and a custom ECU and a DIY-ed wiring harness. All to get the drivetrain from a 2.0L turbocharged Toyota Celica GT-4 into a classic Mini, with central locking, power windows, a powered flip-front, rain-sensing wipers front and rear, etc. It's not like they fabricate things just for the sake of fabricating things. Wait, that's exactly what it is.

What a move. Get so annoyed at the state of the wiring loom that you just decide to completely make your own. Fantastic!

nice job explaining your crimping and heat shrink process, wondering what tool you are using cause the one I have does the insulation and stripped section all in one
@TheAussieShed2 жыл бұрын
G'day Mate, yes I have various ratchet crimpers that also do that. Not a big fan of them though, although they are handy for some crimping jobs. The ones I use in this video you can get from Haltech, any of the Motorsport wiring suppliers & i'm sure even ebay has them. Cheers.

Is it possible to get your hands on a Megger? Although you're using a multimeter the Megger will point out the intermediate shorts or opens.

@@TheAussieShed : I bring this up because I once owned a Dodge Demon that had an intermittent short in the ignition wires. Visual and resistive measurements couldn't find it. It wasn't until I borrowed a Megger that I was able to solve the problem.

Hey, great to see this for a 300zx. Any chance you could do a vid/say the cost of doing your own harness? Intrigued if I can trade time against money and save vs wiring specialties 👍
@TheAussieShed2 жыл бұрын
G'day Robert, if you can buy an off the shelf harness to suit your needs, do it. The cost of wire & connecters adds up really, really fast & it is a hugely time consuming process. Even if you can get a new loom that's close to what you want & then make some minor mods to it. I still occasionally wake in a cold sweat thinking about that harness. Cheers Mate.
@maverickmind252 жыл бұрын
@@TheAussieShed hilarious. Yer I’d not thought of starting with a mostly correct new harness. Good idea. Thanks!
