CUSTOM FORMULA 1 RUG | Full Tufting Process

This was a design I saw on Pinterest when I very first started making rugs, and I'm glad I finally did it.
Also, this is a new style of video I'm testing out; no music, no talking, just raw sounds.

Nice work! I also built my frame on top of a similar wooden workhorse. But in mine I drilled matching holes in both the frame and workhorse, then I bolt and nut them together. That way in the future when I want to work on another project while glue is drying on one I can easily swap to another frame. Also, I find that if you trim and shape yarn sections before tufting an adjacent section you will get incredibly clean lines. I also like to go thru with tweezers and pull wild strands to the correct sections. It’s time consuming and a bit draining tho.

Your line work is incredibly neat. My lines be going all over the place. Question: when you're gluing, has or do some of your threads come out of the primary fabric? I'm a beginner and I have that problem. I was using the "spatula" like yours but then I switched to a glove.

I’ve had the same experience. Personally tho it hasn’t affected any of my rugs designs when they do come out, but I tuft twice as many lines in my rugs than in this video. I have one waiting to be glued now, and I think I’ll apply the glue by hand on this one to see how it goes. Do you also use Roberts 3095 glue?

@@mslucky2.028 How does that dry? 3095 cures to a slightly sticky texture and is very bendable.

How much pressure are you applying? My wife did her first rug and the entire backside had long strings, the way your starting points have.

You have to apply a good amount of pressure so that the needle is not bouncing off of the fabric and tearing it. I will be doing a video about techniques soon
