The aftermarket scales that came on it were very nice. But the transformation was amazing. And you are such a craftsman. Very well done.

Came out awesome! The lines of the micarta go very well with such a straight handle. It's also a very cool effect on the blade side edges. Great video 👍

I love this so much! I recently bought a Smock and decided it's the knife that's gone get custom g-carta scales from the slab I've been holding on to for months. I'm hoping they turn out half as nice as yours did. 🙏🤞

Perfect timing I ordered a smock clone for 20 bones cause I wanted to do a full chop mod on it first to make sure I liked it before chopping my real one I figured that was my best bet... I love your content so keep 0n pushin dude....

Same. I didn't get a smock clone but I'm using them for practicing sharpening & mods. I've not seen a Smock clone. Now, I'm going to look.

Nice! That's a good way to get a test run in😁 I'd love to see it after you chop it.

Awesome work! Looks fantastic. What kind of bit do you use for your countersunk holes? I've been having a hard time finding the right bits for countersinking holes in custom scales that I've been making
@KnathansKnivesАй бұрын
Thank you very much! I use my larger drill bits to counter sink my hardware holes(I just take my time and try not to slip) but I definitely need proper counter sinking bits.

Do u charge on customized knives based on the size of the knife?
@KnathansKnives2 жыл бұрын
I usually charge by the material and the amount of custom work wanting to be done🙂
@drecdlz11 ай бұрын
What bit sizes did you use?😊 Smock scales are very hard to come by and are very expensive where I am from,I want to make my own 🤘👌
@KnathansKnives11 ай бұрын
Honestly, I can't remember but I just used the OG scales as my guide with my drill bits🙂

I am finally going to attempt this on mine after your video inspiring me to do this! I do have a couple quick questions, when you do the tung oil you say you let it sit for 30 minutes. What does that mean? Do you just wipe it on with your finger? Wait 30 minutes then wipe it off? Wash it off? Also, can the GCarta be cut with a scroll saw? Wondering if maybe a diamond carbide or certain blade would be required? And do you wear protection to keep from breathing the dust? I’m guessing it’s kind of nasty stuff. Anyway, I am hoping mine could turn out Even half as good as yours. Teach me the ways, master

That's awesome to hear, I hope to see it once it's finished! When I use Tung Oil, I soak the scales in it and then let it sit for 30 min, then I'll wipe it off with a paper towel. I've never used a scroll saw but a bandsaw works great! I do wear protection, Eyewear and Dust mask. With practice and patience it will turn out great!🤜🤛
