Custom Guitar Build - The Chimera - Hybrid Body w/Stain

This is the complete build video on the making of this custom guitar. This is a design that I have named the Chimera, and it is my own design with some influences from both the Fender Stratocaster and the Strandberg Boden.
The top is Black Walnut and Zebrawood, the neck is Pau Ferro, and the fretboard is Sabah Ebony.
The pickups are the Fishman Fluence Devin Townsend Signature set.
The bridge is a Schaller non-tremelo bridge, the tuners are locking Hipshot tuners.

FOR SALE NOW AT www.orbitalguitars.com/shop Some extra info about the demo at the end: The guitar was tuned to Open C (seemed fitting as that is the tuning that Devin Townsend uses a lot, and the guitar has his signature set of pickups), the amp was an Orange Tremlord 30, and the audio was recorded with a Shure SM57. So unique. Most guitar builds are SO BORING because they are all one of the 4 main designs Les Paul, ES 335, Tele, or Strat. If I ever buy another electric guitar, it’s going to be something like you guys make. Unique or maybe even one of a kind.

one does not simply pot fishman fluence pickups. I'm not hearing any of that kind of noise anyway, sounds clear in that respect. There is some odd digital clipping going on but I think thats from his DAW not the guitar.

Beautiful exotic timber with lacquer thrown on top rather than taking the time to give it a proper hand rubbed TruOil finish buffed to high gloss would allow that guitar to breather and sound so much better.

Different finishes make no perceptible difference in the sound of a solid body electric guitar. Also, as someone who has worked with oil, lacquer, and poly finishes, let me tell you something: an oil finish that's buffed to high gloss is just as thick as a lacquer or poly finish, and does not allow the guitar to "breathe" better.

Please learn to setup and install the nut, those strings should never be inside the nut groves, your asking for tuning problems and string height issues, when you sound tested with devin townsend good choice in music, i could tell the nut was the main problem with fret buzz.
