Custom Guitar Build - The Chimera - Quilted Maple Top

This is the complete build video on the making of this custom guitar. This is a design that I have named the Chimera, and it is my own design with some influences from both the Fender Stratocaster and the Strandberg Boden.
The top is Quilted Maple, the neck is Jatoba and Wenge, the wings of the body are Black Walnut, and the fretboard is Snakewood.
The pickups are Lace Deathbucker in the bridge position and Lace Alumitone in the neck position.
The bridge is a Schaller Hannes Piezo bridge with an onboard preamp, the tuners are locking Grovers.

What do you do with all of these guitars you build? Also, can you maybe have someone that is as accomplished at playing, as you are at building and finish carpentry play some of these at the end of your videos or perhaps in separate videos? Perhaps you can let us hear these beasts being fully utilized in recordings. I for one would dig it if I could hear these tracked along with bass, and drums etc... Maybe some heavy distortion tone for rhythm and a lead tone with a touch of delay etc etc..... That would be badass! Also, I think a cool challenge for you, would be to try doing a build with a double locking trem system . Like a Floyd or something. Been binge watching your vids, I'm amazed by your impressive work and its getting better and better with each episode!!!! Stay rockin my brother!

I originally learned about what types of wood are good for necks while browsing through Warmoth's offerings, and since then I tend to look for types of wood that are described as having similar properties.

Thank you for all the information given in your video. I am attempting to build a zebrawood bodied guitar so seeing this is very helpful. Especially as I intend to oil finish as you have done.

Be aware of the direction of the grain and the direction of your cutter/blade rotation. Zebrawood has a tremendous tendency to chip out and tear out. Make sure you have sharp cutters. I'm a fan of using my CNC mill, even using in manual mode, because the nice, tight ball screws allow me to climb mill/climb cut, giving me a much better surface finish, and nearly eliminating all tear out and chip out completely. Also, some people have a reaction to the dust, like my wife and kids, so just be aware of the dust created. Enjoy the process, it's nice to work with, aside from above issues, is beautiful athletically, and sounds great (if you are a tone wood affirmative person). One last thing, some Zebrawood, like Wenge and other tropical exotics, can be oily when glued, making solid gluing potentially problematic. A wipe with acetone prior to gluing should alleviate this, if needed.

Well done... one of the beautifullst Axes I ever seen, but whats going so wrong with the tone? Put a Billy Lawrence 500 XL near by the Bridge ...hope this helps
