I've been debating the same thing I'd say the type of toilet you want depends on what you don't mind dealing with. Cassette toilets will smell the most, you need to carry water to flush with and you have to dump them at designated stations. Composting toilets can be expensive plus they're a whole hassle to empty and clean normally and you'll have to carry something dry to put in after using it. I'm leaning towards a DIY "composting" bucket and bag with the liquid separating attachment you can get on amazon. The solids in the bag with the drying medium mean little to no cleaning and the easiest disposal method plus it's the cheapest option. Hope my research into the matter helps you out and sweet shoes!
