Tremendous build. The bus hub seamlessly integrated into the central train station. Magnificent infrastructure. One suggestion is to make the road infront of the bus hub to be bus only. I see cars are using it as a turn around lane. Great work. Looking forward to the next infrastructure development.
@eduardpuiggarcia6584Ай бұрын
That express bus directly parallels the train line, I don't see two forms of public transit competing with each other. I think the best system for TP in Easthaven would like an insular hub and spoke model type of thing, with buses connecting the rain stations with the rest of the island and trains connecting islands between them.

@eduardpuiggarcia658423 күн бұрын
@@dantem4119 because buses do local services and trains "express", different services different demands, in here both of them are doing express, both services compete for the same demand.
@japopo5533Ай бұрын
Bus lines work better when you create more shorter lines so that you can right size the number of busses to the demand. Also the express bus line you made is providing the same service as you trains going from one train station to other. Which basically makes your lines compeat against each other for riders. But still a good episode, like the transit hub.

What would be to cool to see is some sort of grand emergency services complex, with a custom fire station, helicopter depot, and more! Simple storyline: Originally created soon after the founding of the city, the "Easthaven County Fire Service" operated as a backup unit to help out the more local fire departments across the county. As Fort John grew and the times rolled on by, the local government decided to reform it into the Fort John Fire & Rescue Service Headquarters, turning it into the dedicated fire service HQ for the capital island. Over the years as the city kept on growing, a helicopter depot was added to assist in water rescue and brush firefighting operations.

That parking lot reminds me a lot of a place I passed by each time I drove to and from my ex's house. The topography is inverted (the parking lot was on an elevated plateau along with a transit station for train and bus), but it was a very common spot for car meets and people would often hang at the gas station across the street with their cars. Whenever I went back later in the evening it would always either spill over into or move entirely over to the parking lot.

Fort John could have a coastal tram. Backstory: Back in 1920s Fort John had a thriving streetcar network but over the years cars took over and by the 1950s most of the streetcar lines had been torn out. There was one line left the coastal line going from Winter along the coast all the way to Bay's end. A local advocacy group fought strong to keep this piece of history and line with a great view from suffering the same fate as all the others did. Back then this wasnt very popular but over time the people of Fort John grew to love the tram by the sea. Today it is very busy and recently the city invested in brand new state of the art rolling stock and are looking into future routes for the growing city.
@kennedyspace1159Ай бұрын
Yeah historical tram lines, but was not shut, to preserve the history, and now it servers as Tourist commuter along the coast/ Sightseeing.

If you made bus lines separately for individual cities, and separately express lines only to connect individual cities, you would not have a problem with routing between Fort John and Cowder Bay (and probably less traffic from buses/ better public transport inside each city). Also what I personaly dont like (just my opinion) at Queen's Cape you used the wide ally way for bus stops, but the poor passengers will get off on the road without a pavement. Otherwise I like this episode 👍

Another thing I'd like to see more of in your city is parking garages. US Cities absolutely love their parking garages... especially the closer you get to a downtown area. Some of them could be clipped into larger buildings as well, to simulate below ground/integrated parking.

On the bridge you built a couple episodes back you should definitely add graffiti decals on the remains of the old bridge pillars! Since the government had no intention on removing the pillars, after the bridge was built graffiti artists would travel by boat to get to the pillars to paint on them! This could then become a symbol for the areas around the bridge!

I think that express lines could be from 1 to 9 and then you could name local lines based on the zone they serve like 1X for Fort John, 2X for Chowder Bay and so on. Big lines like this video's line one, since they link two different cities could have three digits: the ones that identify each city they serve. Line 1 that's in the video would be 121. If three digits are too many you could name it 12, while local lines could be F1, F2.... for Fort John, C1,C2... for Chowder Bay and so on
@tigonologdring9189Ай бұрын
Love the new bus infrastructure! The Express line should just be called _Rail Replacement Service_ though, since it's just a duplication of the train line connecting the two towns. And really, what a silly question! "Do we need a tram network?" No! Of course not... do we WANT one? Of course we do! LOL

I don't know if the very long bus line between Chowder Bay and the main train station works well with traffic (and, as someone else already mentioned, the train already services most of the distance). Maybe splitting up the two bus lines, one for each city that lead to the train station, would make it work a bit smoother, as passengers in Queen's cape then wouldn't need to wait for Chowder Bay traffic to calm down so that busses can get back. Or maybe even make three lines: One for each city that covers a lot of ground there and serves as collectors to the train station. And then a third one that serves as a bus connection between the two cities with some stops in between. For example, industrial areas that residential bus lines wouldn't service, but where work commuters might use a bus to skip the train, if they are working in the other city.
@TelsionАй бұрын
Here in the Netherlands, we have three-digit bus designations, with several prefixes for specific services. For example, school buses (which only run early in the morning and late in the afternoon) start with a '6', '5' is for flex buses, etc. As for Easthaven County, I'd just suggest to start with 101 for your normal bus routes. Maybe give your express buslines a prefix like '8', so your express line would be 801 then.

@Alex-oy4qnАй бұрын
Loving the cities gameplay, and I thought I’d share how we handle bus naming in my hometown, Darmstadt-might give you some ideas! Instead of numbers (those are reserved for trams), our buses are named after the main destination one the line or area they serve. For example, Line H goes to the Hochschule (university), Line F heads to the Fasanerie (pheasantry), and Line K serves the Kleyer district. Single-letter lines like F, L or K are for inner-city routes, while two-letter lines (FM, GB, WE) take you to the suburbs. You could even apply this logic to express and night buses. An X for express buses (like 'XH' for an express route to the university) and an N for night buses (e.g. NP for a night route). That way, everything stays tied to its destination, but it’s clear if it’s an express or night service! Simple, effective, and practical!

Express lines: prefix E plus a number. Special night buses N plus a number. Then other bus routes can get a letter prefix that matches the main bus hub that the route serves or a prefix indicating if it is an orbital (O) route or a radial (R) route. If using radial routes, you could even have a double prefix: RN, RE, RS and RW indicating the direction of the non central point.
@brandicunningham7243Ай бұрын
In terms of a North American naming convention for the buses and transit: I'm Canadian, and I live in Edmonton. Our transit system is called the ETS (Edmonton Transit System) which could be a great placeholder for Easthaven County. You could directly name it the EHCS (Easthaven County Service/System) which would also be quite fitting. Unfortunately, Edmonton is really boring with it's naming convention and will usually use a numeric number, and the neighbourhood/region it will service (004 Lewis Farms, for example). With the grid layout of most North American cities, our transit systems are typically numerically based or street named based. We're not very creative here lol. Another example for express service is when I lived in Vancouver, we had "B-Lines" which serviced a massive Boulevard and major arterial of our cities. What connected East Vancouver all the way along Broadway street is called the "99 B-Line" which services a major transit hub (Commercial Broadway Station/Hub) to the University of British Columbia. You could also take inspiration from Vancouver as Vancouver has one of the best systems in Canada for public transit.

@lesterfrancis8284Ай бұрын
For your bus lines, I would follow the Los Angeles Metro Bus model of numbered bus routes with the Central Railway Terminal as a major bus/train interchange. Let me explain. 1. Local bus routes will have route numbers from 1-99 2. Express bus routes will have route numbers from 100-199 3. Nighttime bus routes will have route numbers from 200-299 4. Downtown Circular routes will have route numbers from 300-399 So, for example. If your daytime local bus route is number 10, then your nighttime local bus route will be 210. Since both express and downtown circular routes do not operated during the overnight hours, you can leave those route designations alone. I hope this bit of info is helpful.

Love the video and normally I don't comment but I've got and idea for the naming of the transit. Regarding the naming convention you could use regular numbers for the regular buses and maybe give each island its own decimal (for example the tens for Fort John, etc) the express buses could use the prefix R for rapid bus (e.g. R1) the night buses could be called "nightstar" and abbreviated N and a number of(e.g. N1) and maybe even replace the rail services during the night. As a name of the bus service there would be ITE (Isles Transit Easthaven) with their motto being "interconnecting, transporting, enabling you" The train lines could be named S for suburban or C for commuter and a respective number (for example S1/C1). The outgoing trains could be classified IC (intercity as is common in europe). Intermediate trains could be called CEX (commuter express) Thanks again for the videos I really enjoy them.
