I found your channel a few months ago through the desk build project and I have to say, it's quickly become of my favoritte to watch. I genuinely get excited when I see a thumbnail pop up on my feed, the glowing blue desk creates a really cool and recognisable visual identity. I love your genuine approach to projects and the story telling style you have. Looking forward to the next one! How's embedding that stream deck going?
@camshand9 ай бұрын
That's really nice to hear Simon, thank you! It has been quite the process to visually tell these stories without cameras slowing down the actual making projects but with each video I feel my style more and more. And yes, the blue desk being a lightbox for top downs has worked better than I could have imagined 🤩 Streamdeck panel is awaiting parts, bunch of custom knobs since I now have measurements. and buttons on the way which are needed for the other parts going into the right panel. Excited to put it all together to at least have a balanced visual whilst I turn my attention towards programming the centre dashboard.

Found your channel from your desk build videos and must say you’ve improved significantly over the past few months. Your videos are always such high quality, and genuinely enjoyable to watch. Love having another Aussie maker I can relate to. P.S: love how Creality sent you their laser, and you didn’t feel pressured to not point out the flaws, no matter how big. Pure sponsored content is the best.

Appreciate the compliments Josh 😊 It's been such a joy to share my custom tech journey, stoked to have fellow Aussies join me! Yes, regardless of being sent products for review or not, safety is a top priority! Other than that I always try to think what I would want to know as a customer as at the end of the day I buy these types of products myself. P.s. The mini server build I teased that's next looks soooo damn cool

Hobbyist leatherworker here. The studs are usually called button studs, also known as Sam Browne studs, Sam Browne posts, or harness posts. Additionally, the compounds used in leather tanning, particularly in chrome tanned leather, are noxious, not just faux leather. The ventilation is super important if you're laser cutting leather.
@camshand9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the names! You would not believe how hard it is to google for them without knowing the right terms. Found some on eBay as I couldn't find them in stores. And yes I did do a burn test outside to make sure the smoke and flame was normal and ash was brown and not green (that's the test I saw mentioned on a few forums for vegetable vs chrome) and it was all brown so presumably vegetable tanned. 100% knowing whats safe and having ventilation even for wood is important!

I have so many Ideas that are super similar to yours! This channel is a huge inspiration to actually build/film them once I have the funds to do so. My issue is I’ve worked on manyy custom projects but always pinched for time and don’t film anything.
@camshand9 ай бұрын
Totally understand the time struggles and trying to get thing done! My trick, is I've switched to a "one and done" principle where possible. Also, If a big project requires the need to learn something, I'll see if I can break that skill down into a project of its own. Almost like a mini project to more easily stay on track with and chip away. Finally, the biggest motto I've embraced is "it's a prototype", anything you make just tell yourself it's a prototype, until eventually you get what you're happy with. That helps with time constraints as I'll let go of perfectionism enough that I surprisingly get more done at a 98% quality level that is better than getting stuck and giving up. Still figuring it out everyday, but these things have helped me a lot to keep momentum
@aaronrdaniels9 ай бұрын
@@camshand the idea of not getting it right the first time, and everything is a prototype is slowly starting to set in for me. I’m Definitely a perfectionist, hopefully you will get to see an example someday 👀. I have ADHD and constantly hop around the house on a day off and just work on whatever when my brain sees it. Trying to get into a compartmentalized flow, of watching KZbin for an hour, working on a project for two hours, doing schoolwork for a while. Rather than trying to fatigue myself over trying to do so much in one day. I have a-lot of filmed content. It’s just only from half of the project… I’ll forget halfway through and then give up on filming more. Lets just say I’ve gotten good at only editing intros 😅 i try to see the project through and take glamor shots at the end to gather some practice in how to story-tell a project. I appreciate your at length advice! It’s screenshotted and in a place I revisit to remember simple practices In content creation.

Gravastar Mercury M1 Pro, looks wild cool! Will drop a short video on Instagram about it during the week but in short, it performs well for me, but did take a bit to get used to for grip as its shape isn't my normal preference. After a month though I'm used to it and really enjoy playing games with it.

It's coming before the end of the month, I'm super excited to finish it but I'm also not rushing the process. Takes a while to find the parts I want and also had to save money for the Streamdeck plus, so had some packages arrive this week which will allow me to get to work on it all
