Maker of the v slot cable clip here and have been a fan for a while :) you inspired the desk, I made my own plans and stuff based on it and completed it a few weeks ago. Its a bit bigger then yours, but you were a big inspiration. Also mounted my PC to v slots after your PC case video, though I screwed mine under my desk. Needed a new desk right when you uploaded your first desk video, so I also immediately jumped into fusion and made plans for my own. Currently still looking for nice ways to utilize the v slot. Working on a headset hanger type thing currently. So far I mounted my mic arm on a custom 3d printed bracket for v slots, though its not at a good enough point to upload currently. Yo!!! I was hoping you'd see this vid. That's so awesome to hear 🤩 Well done on following through with the inspiration and making your own desk, it's looking great. Nice job on adding standing desk legs too. I did notice a lot of other 3D printed parts, the spool holders are a cool touch. Hopefully I see your headset hanger pop up on Maker World, I've been thinking of making one too but now that I've added that piece of metal to make the corflute look good, I've lost front edge mounting. For general cable management, my best bet is using a slotted PVC channel (those used for electrical). It's cheap, comes in big sizes and you can route cables through basically any hole

It's a great tip to know! I used to manage thousands of computers at a university, and that is how I reduced the risk of a student cutting their hand when reaching behind a PC 💡

Hey mate. Sparky here, i love how the desk turned out, but i seriously hope those blue points (screw connectors) didn't have 230v going through them. Having only single insulation, and parts that can be touched is a no-no. Also with the wire heating up, the safety switch should trip on the board before it'll heat up the wires, coiling them like you did will produce more heat (it's basically making a small copper electromagnet), but unlikely enough to worry about. And screened cables that are earthed on the sensitive stuff will cut out interference.

I've enjoyed my Bambu P1S, glad you had a good experience with the A1. One day soon i'll pull my finger out and sort the calibration for TPU flow to re-print the speak stands! Desk is looking super clean man... loving it's progression.

I may have just got my hands on a X1C too, and reprinting the speaker stands with Bambu Labs own TPU is on my list, with hopes to get better quality and also have repeatable settings to share. I'll keep you posted once I dial in bambu lab settings.

Another 3d printable cable management solution I've been looking into is the Underware by Hands On Katie, it uses multiboard screwed in under the desk and allows you to print all kinds of attachments for it

I saw that pop up when searching for different mounts. Very interesting! It's like the wall mount grids and draw grid systems but flipped upside down. If you couldn't have a rear panel like I have then that's be great for tucking cables up under the desktop. But it'd be a lot less effort to mount a metal panel across the back.

With the printer that's how haha 😉 I put off doing the cable management as I was like, what a boring subject haha, but such an integral part of the build. Glad you found it interesting!

if you have extra length of power cables, don't roll it up, put it in a zigzag. rolling it up essentially forms a coil which increases impedance (a form of resistance) causing your wires to heat up more than they normally would. zigzagging a wire does the opposite while still saving space

Hey Cam, if you're concerned about power strips overheating, pay attention to the wire gauge. If its a semi-permanent installation and you know roughly the amp draw you are expecting, air cooling is not something you need to be concerned about if the gauge is low enough. Alternatively, you can just have your higher amp draw components like your PC psu on a separate strip with thicker cables.

Yes it's good to calculate loads! I've done what you suggested already, put my PC on a separate outlet. The main concern I raised was I've seen people tightly wrap power boards or extension leads in desk set-ups. Since these can be close to max load without tripping overload they'll get hot. Best to be on the safe side! 👍

Instead of using the velcro ties that are pre-made I buy a cheap roll of double-sided velcro and cut to length. It is much cheaper.

For the Bambulab Printers i recommend using the Orca slicer tho. its basically the Bambulab slicer on steroids. More functions, better supports and finer Prints (at least on my P1s)

Haha yeah blew my mind when I first discovered it. Only other person I've spoken too that uses it was a guy that does 3D scanning of models for movies, he uses it as it's super sticky but he never knew it was reusable, blew his mind 😆

@@camshand I've only been able to reuse the gecko tape up to three times, then it becomes unusable. Wonder if soaking the tape in alcohol/IPA could refresh it when it's full of dirt... (or ultrasonic cleaner) Also, you might like to use magnets for the metal server rack panel, like LTT's magnet arches (or 3D print some).

Magic! 🪄 for real though, I have a iFootage Shark Slider Nano. Doesn't work well with heavy cameras, so I use my small Sony ZV1 on it, but it's phenomenal for 2 axis movements, that why it looks extra niiiiice 🤙

Brilliant, and compelling. I have an old anycubic vyper that I just stopped using 'cause it's so unreliable I just assume "the next print" will fail. That makes me forget how to setup my potato running octopi that manages it ... and man I wouldn't mind having it all be as easy as what you just illustrated. Also my desk's wiring is a disaster but I am very good at ignoring it.

Dude this bambu labs A1 seriously impressed me with the automation. Watching it shake itself through varying frequencies to find motor speeds to avoid resonance is breathtaking as a nerd 🤓 I didn't even watch the first layer for majority of the prints either, just hit go and got back to the next job. Wild stuff Compared to "the old days"
