Custom modes can't be used for saving video settings as far as I remember (I no longer have this camera).

@@ScottJWaldron In manual mode in video, if you switch to another photo mode (M,Tv,Av..), you keep the same parameters as in manual video. Thanks to your video I have stored C1 and C2. But I have discovered that, even in video mode, you can take stills. So I will test if I can shoot video and then take photos in video mode. Other story is if you shoot video in automatic exposure and then change to manual or C1 or C2, you are ok as well. However you don't have as much control in video.

As far as I know the video mode can't be pushed into a custom setting save. Like you were saying, you could probably use one of the other modes and adjust the video settings in there. I assume that should work.

how are the preamps in canon m5 as compared to canon m50

Sorry, that's not something I have the expertise to notice a difference between. Both seem "good enough", but I don't use the M5 audio that much.
