I just got this device. Normally I use Push, but needed something more portable. The build quality is excellent and custom modes combined with Components app are very powerful and so easy to program. Big + for Novation

A question I can't find an answer for... probably not possible but worth asking. I am creating custom modes, and there are a few buttons I want to play some fixed audio clips. Is there a way to also get the visual feedback that the clip is playing? just like in session mode? thanks

How do you change between custom modes 1, 2 and 3?

The custom modes are represented by the three pads under the word "Custom" on the launchpad (Drums, keys, user). These are factory-programmed as shown in the video, but all three can be configured in components to your liking. Please let us know if this helps or if we can answer additional questions.

For that you have to enter in legacy mode, which was added in a firmware update

Is it possible to use Launchpad in Ableton Arrangement mode? Or just only session mode?

Absolutley! Launchpad will still function when working within Ableton Live Arrangement View and you will still be able to control plug-ins but it doesn't have any features that are specifically designed to enhance Arrangement View workflow.

There are a few ways to get around this...first, you can unplug the Mini. Second, you can edit your machine’s BIOS to keep it from powering the USB devices when turned off. Finally, for the original and 2nd Gen, you can hold down buttons 5, 6, 7, and 8, and press button whilst holding those down to temporarily disable Vegas mode. For the newer Minis, there is a dedicated LED Settings page where you can temporarily disable Vegas mode.

Yes, When a track is armed for recording in Live, empty clip slots will appear in dim red. Press one of these slots to start recording to the pressed clip.

If you need more info, you can also contact our support team via email, telephone of Livechat - bit.ly/NovationSupport The Scale Keyboard widget can be used to add eight notes onto one horizontal row in a Custom Mode in Launchpad X and Launchpad Mini Mk3 but you can add more than, "one line". Using Components, you can select the note, octave, and scale of those notes, so you can fill the entire Custom Mode with these widgets, expanding the octave range to create a bespoke Scale Mode. We don't have a dedicated or native space to share custom modes, but many users do share them. It's not totally clear what you mean by animations; light shows and their resulting animations can be created in Legacy mode. FL Studio doesn't feature dedicated support for Launchpad Mini Mk3 but perhaps that's something that the Image-Line team might decide to add in the future. Launchpad is primarily designed to control Ableton Live and won't function the same when used with other DAWs but you will be able to enter notes and use it as a standard MIDI controller.

Launchpad Mini won't benefit from the same Scale Mode as Launchpad X but you can certainly create your own Scale layouts using it's Custom Modes and Components. You can check it out here: components.novationmusic.com/launchpad-mini-mk3/librarian

Thanks for your interest! Launchpad was primarily designed as a controller for a digital audio workstation (DAW) called Ableton Live. All Launchpads come bundled with a copy of Ableton Live Lite, that you can install on a compatible Mac or Windows PC and begin creating music straight away. In this video, we're using Ableton Live and also 'Components', which is a web browser-based application used to customise many of our devices, including Launchpad X and Launchpad Mini [Mk3]. Launchpad can't make any sounds on its own. You will need to use a compatible DAW, such as Ableton Live.
