Yep, that’s why I didn’t mind paying £2.2k to pdi my new rs3, ppf front, ceramic coated the rest of the car when I bought it in 2017, it’s was a weeks work.

Looks spot on ... the only thing through experience on a 991 I had is if the PPF peels slightly and needs to come off there is a chance the paint can come off with it which happened to me. Then it’s new paint, paint hardening for weeks new PPF and left feeling shi**e. Through that happening I’d never have PPF again .. Maybe just maybe I got unlucky

@@1977JohnBoy it was a piece along the sill to the rear and over the wing.. I agree and have never heard of it happening before. After it happened I heard more stories similar. You know mate when you buy a car you don’t know sometimes if it’s had paint to tidy it up I suppose theres many factors to it. I can tell you I was gutted and left with a strip of paint missing on the rear wing. It did all get sorted by them but it put me off PPF in a big way.

Either your car had poorly applied paint at the factory but more likely it was a respray. It can happen to resprayed cars as the paint is usually softer. I’ve had the ppf on the bonnet replaced on my rs3 after 4 years due to a substance on the ppf, paint was fine

@@tommyram9839 it can happen with resprayed cars as you are dependent on the quality of the respray. Don’t ever ppf a car immediately after a respray either. Leave it a a week or two

Is it worth ppf ing a 3 year old car with a few chips etc. My car only has 15k miles so fairly low but i was under the impression the paintwork needs to be flawless for ppf to be worth the hassle ? Cheers for replys

Just to ease my couriosity, how much did the PPF go for? Full and front end? Just sold my m2 comp and have booked an rs3 for a test ride. Main thing for me is the sound and judgin by the vids on youtube, it doesnt sound good at all. Whats your take on it? Cheers

Not a clue mate best to ask Pro Vinyl for that one. As for the sound, it’s muted due to the OPF but still sounds miles better than an M2. But then they don’t sound great anyway. Slightly louder than my Facelift OPF 8V too 🤔👍🏼

You can do both. I don’t think ceramic coating provides the same protection that PPF does but I’m far from an expert 😬🤷🏼‍♂️

Ceramic coating only provides hydrophobic and some chemical resistance properties. PPF truly protects paint from scratches and stone chips, there are ceramic coatings you can out on top of PPF mind you.
