CUSTOM Songbird Ocarina OoT - Unboxing and Review

Today, I unbox and do an in depth review on a custom Ocarina of Time replica from Songbird Ocarina! I had this ocarina custom ordered to have a red finish, and Taiwanese style subholes, rather than a glossy blue finish, and Japanese subholes. I really love this ocarina! It was definitely worth the time, and extra money. The color, sound, and ergonomics of this ocarina are amazing for me, personally, and I think this ocarina (or even the base ocarina) is an amazing choice for musicians, and Zelda fans. This ocarina took about 1 month to arrive to me, and cost about 30 dollars more than the original 108 dollar Ocarina of Time. With a coupon code, I got it down to around 114. Make sure to ask if your code (if you have one) is applicable when ordering :D

I am absolutely in love with this ocarina. I don't even care that it's red, if anything, it just adds to the warm, resonating tone. I've never heard an ocarina sound so sublime. It's a shame they don't have it on the store anymore. I have to get one somehow!

What is the difference between Japanese and Taiwanese fingering style? I have only Taiwanese style, I guess to have the subholes in the same hand it's more fast to play it? Do you have the Japanese style in your collection or you prefer play with the Taiwanese? I ask you a lot of questions this month ha ha 😅

Heya! No worries! I appreciate all your comments! The difference at least to me, is just preference. For my larger hands, I find that Taiwanese (two handed) subholes are much easier for me to reach my fingers down to. I find my hand gets cramped on Japanese (one hand) style subholes, but only if I have to use them constantly within a piece. So virtually, the only difference between Japanese and Taiwanese are which hand you use to cover them. If you find it easier to use just one hand, or have smaller hands, then Japanese are the best. If you find it more comfortable or quicker with Taiwanese, and can quickly use both hands, then stick with Taiwanese. And, yeah, I have a few Japanese subhole ocarinas! I lot of songbirds 12 hole ocarinas have Japanese subholes. My favorite Soprano G ocarina also has Japanese subholes. Thanks again for your questions :)
