Its nice to see someone put a video on here about installing stairs who actually knows what they're doing. Well done sir

Good to see someone just doing beautiful work and not trying to brag with no knowlege of what they are talking about. 90% of the "HOW TO" vids are someone doing it for the first time and using someone elses info to do it. GREAT JOB SIR, YOU ARE A TRUE CRAFTSMAN!

I owned FREE STANDING STAIR in Temecula California but closed in 2008. I have built around 100 stairs similar to this one. Nice work my friend! Reminds me when I built a staircase in my backyard once. Built most of my stairs in shop or on job site. Too much labor and time in between jobs. The money was good. I used to build a stair like this one in about 7 days. Then I started slowing down to enjoy the process a bit more would take about 12 days on average.

Nicely done. Unlike another commenter, I like the metal spindles. It keeps the staircase looking light and interesting while providing the spacing that meets safety requirements.

Amazing, I spent some time working on large house in Whistler BC this year which had a curved staircase being built on site just like this, although on a much larger radius. Rather then framing the treads they had routed housings for them to slot into. I finished up the ski season and headed home before it had been finished though unfortunately.
@spanner9993 жыл бұрын
That's the way treads should be fixed in via dovetail housings,

Next to building wooden clipper ships. I would say building wooden spiral staircases is the peak of the carpenter trade. More so now when everything is made of steel and concrete. As a retired union carpenter from 1962-99 that worked out of Mass. Great to see there is some true tradesman still around today. Bravo!

Very nice work. Is the pitch determined based on the floor heights, allowable headroom and tread depth requirements? How do you calculate the length of a helical radius? Fabric tape on staging walls doesn't seem accurate. I'll bet there is pi involved. Hopefully lemon meringue ;^)

Hey, I actually build spiral stairs for a living, my father is the real expert. We build them on the job site now instead of a shop. Not that many people do this work. We did 2 with landing etc.. Cheers, to see there are more stairmasters ^.^

Although I don't do it anymore, I consider myself a stairmaster. It looks complicated to most, but quite simple to those of us that are experienced.
@prawlingbadger2642 Жыл бұрын
@scott wright yes I'm actually doing those exact stairs, and that's the annoying part, we usually use a finish im the interior for them to paint, otherwise the finish detail after Installing the threads is a bitch to anyone....
@scottwright388 Жыл бұрын
@@prawlingbadger2642 stairs get a lot of abuse in new construction, since they do install them for all trades to have access. The good higher end builders will install temp stairs.
