7:45 If I have to paint orange or yellow over a darker color like that, I usually put a coat of gray on first. I still have to do usually 2 layers of orange paint to get it covered really well, but the layer of gray helps...

Awesome customs. You can tell Kenner didnt have much to work from when they designed the original Walrus man. They even gave him flippers probably assuming the character was an anthropomorphic walrus lol

tc, what's the ideal material for printing weapons and accessories? Is ABS sufficient? 👍

Yeah ABS would be fine, just be careful as its hard but can be brittle.

I did a similar custom to your last one in this video many years ago. In fact, I think I did it twice? I first did it with hand-painting like this but as I recall I eventually stripped that one and repainted it using spray-paint and masking tape. I made a couple of additional modifications using a pic of the original Kenner prototype for inspiration, like making the gloves slightly longer. You can see in the sculpt they meant for them to go further up the forearm. That vintage Ponda Baba figure looks nothing like the Walrus man from the movie...It's like Kenner designed him w/o actually seeing what the Walrus man looked like!... That head is completely wrong on so many levels, the skin is green for some reason (It's like Kenner just said: Oh, screw it, what the hell"s the difference?... Nobody's gonna notice, he was hardly even in the movie anyways)

I don’t think they got very good pics in the early days as most of them were black and white!
