How did you clean up the grooves so well without loosing shape? Hand sanding? Excellent end product.

I'm refinishing a cockpit teak table top (three leaves) on my Hanse 415 sailing yacht and would like to follow the example of your excellent video. It is a solid flat surface. Q: What "spray" should I use for the same "satin" effect and what epoxy products (I assume you spray over the final coats of epoxy products)? The bottom of the leaves will not be visible; should I do those surfaces also? Also, since there are no "grooves," should I brush it on or use another method? Finally, there are no significant dents but many stains; what grade of sandpaper(s) do you recommend? Thanks!

Greetings, I found your video while searching for a method to finish the teak cockpit table on my boat. I thought "wow" before the boat owner said it. And indeed, WOW!! The finish is something I would like to duplicate. Three or 4 coats of West System, no problem. The ICA you mentioned in another reply is what type of finish? Were multiple coats applied with sanding between coats? Thanks for posting the video.

Thank you Bill, ICA comes in several types of finishes including gloss and satin. Always sand between coats or you will never be able to get the surface flat. Lots of fun and happiness on your project! Jim

After a few coats of epoxy, I used to go one spraying polyurethane varnish on top. I do that because of poly, s very good UV filter capability. Normally I use epifanes varnish. Is that bad in your view ?

Hello Esben! The way you described your technique is exactly the way we did this table. Not sure why that doesn’t come across in this video as I just had a phone conversation with a gentleman yesterday talking about exactly the same technique. Nice job! I'm making a teak patio table for an outdoor deck. Would it be okay to just use a teak oil finish? Or is it better to use epoxy?

Teak oil is fine, make sure you keep up with the maintenance and apply it often. Thank you for watching! Jim

Hello, I have a new teak table for the inside of my house, and the teak seems a bit dried out...should I put some teak oil before doing the epoxy like you did in the video? Awesome video btw, thank you very much

Hello ExWowas ! No don’t oil the teak, the epoxy will separate from the oil and never stick properly. Just sand it well and go through all all the grits until you end up with the perfect smoothness that you’re desiring and you will be good to go! Thanks for watching! Jim

Last I heard it was doing well. Vessel is in Europe now but table should have been recoated by now anyway because of the uv rays. It was a Italian product called EPS satin. Jim

I missed the part where it went from the shiny, ugly encapsulated looking epoxy like I am capable of, to satin beautiful final finish. And I watched closely. Oh well.
