i would be worried about the part closest to the middle of the vehicle hitting the ground/rock, bending up/sideways, pushing the other edge into the brake and fuel lines. Id notch out the left side (by the brake lines) and apply that part you notched off to the right side, to triangulate it a bit. Looks great!

Nice work! Nate is a master craftsman at what he does...simply amazing! Its very nice to see what you accomplished and how nice it turned out, being more like me, somebody with not as many tools available to me...yet haha
@MuddyBeards4X44 жыл бұрын
You don't need a ton of tools. They make it easier for sure though lol. Thanks for watching
@jameshall43854 жыл бұрын
it looks great. the dimples look professional. i think you need to put a support on the passenger side.
@MuddyBeards4X44 жыл бұрын
I think it will hold up. The exhaust makes it a challenge to tie into the passage side frame rail.
@johnbower57324 жыл бұрын
Looks good. The front guard also needs some dimples in it to let some of the heat escape.
@MrJTime4 жыл бұрын
Kudos to you for making your own stuff!! I had a similar skid on my XJ with the same crossmember and it bent up into the transfer case on my second trip out. Yours will eventually bend, but it looks killer with those dimples!

I love that, it looks great ... ya! Nate is rubbing off on ya. But I personally think adding that back piece was a good idea... also in the fact that it strengthens that back edge and passenger side rear corner. One rock and all that would be shoved right up. Another ... then it also doesn't act like a shovel if you have to reverse out of mud or something (or get caught up on a rock). Great job, looks great

That thing will bend with the first impact and will send it right into the driveshaft. You need to support the passenger side too.
@MuddyBeards4X44 жыл бұрын
The exhaust makes that challenging. If I have an issue I'll redesign but its stronger then you think. I can jack it up on the far corner and it doesn't budge
@AllanLaal4 жыл бұрын
@@MuddyBeards4X4 your jack applies static load. a moving vechicle will hit a rock with a dynamic load spike that is many G's x your Jeeps weight at 0 'braking' distance (city traffic brake slam is 1..2G over a distance). this will guilliotine your drive shaft eventually :D
@fotomotoxxiii4 жыл бұрын
Looks great but it will deflect up into your case and possibly cause more damage if you high center on rock. Add a brace towards passenger side somehow.
@MuddyBeards4X44 жыл бұрын
Trust me I wanted to tie it into both sides of the frame but I would have to completely redo the exhaust. Its prettu stout so hopefully it holds up
@fotomotoxxiii4 жыл бұрын
@@MuddyBeards4X4 oh I see, I couldn't tell from camera angle. That would mean losing ground clearance and thats no good. I really like the craftsmanship, great job. Love fabricating stuff. Waiting on this heat to subside to build a bunch of stuff for the 4runner
@Tbmx84 жыл бұрын
Looks awesome! I plan on building my own skid for my TJ. The only thing I would have done differently is added a couple gussets from the lower part to the vertical part but it seems really stout as it is. Look forward to more videos👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Nice fab, but your dimples will retain water? I think flipping the other way would help to drain water.

It might get some mud in there but its a wheeler and get pressure washed after each outing
@OldGriz7084 жыл бұрын
That would leave lips to snag on stuff. The next off camber manuver will dump it.

I do not have any videos on it. I built it before I started making videos. Its pretty simple though. Just used 2x4 rectangular tube for the cross member and some DOM and links from Barnes
