In this episode we'll explore how to install a Sportster tank on a softail, or better yet, how to prepare and modify a Sportster (or frisco, wassell, peanut) gas tank to fit on a Softail Harley Davidson motorcycle. We'll also apply a sealing liner inside the fuel tank
PART 1

In the first part we' have cut the sportster tank open and began the adaptation so that it can be installed on a softail model.
Then we started the manufacturing of the new tunnel.
What did we do:
cut open the Sportster peanut gas tank
removal of the original tunnel
cleaning and rust removal from the tank and the fender
metal fabrication
PART 2
In this second part we will install the tunnel, weld it, powder coat it, we'll coat the inside of the tank with a fuel resistant sealer liner, we'll do pressure tests to make sure there are no leaks and off to the explanation on how to install the Sportster tank on the softail motorcycle.
Finally we proceed with test driving the bike on the streets of Rome.
What did we do:
bending of the sheet metal for new tunnel
fitting of the modeled sheet metal
welding of the new tunnel
pressure testing of the welded tank
powder coating of the tank
sealing and lining of the tank
installation of the new fabricated gas tank onto the softail motorcycle
finally, we went for a kick ass ride!!!

Hey man great instructions... some guy wanted £185 to seal my 4.3gall tank for my Harley 48 but after watching you guys you've inspired me to do it myself. Did you leave the original tank cap on whilst sealing it or put something else in replace? also the 4 screw holes under the tank where the filter sits in did you put anything in them or did you tape them up?

+teddd10 hey Ted, for the cap i left it off during the drying time. We also left the bottom open so that the excess could drip off. Do it yourself it's quite easy!!!
