Hey guys, today Lexor is back in the shop. We are replacing rear brake pads, rotors, hardware, and ware sensor. We are also performing a e-brake/parking brake service. DAMAGE FOUND! What did we find? Watch and find out. Enjoy!

I'm no pro like CSW, I can however say that in my experience a good rule of thumb is to expect to use 1 standard sized can of brake clean per wheel, worst case scenario you end up with a can of brake clean on your shelf for future use.

Glad to see someone greasing the rub blocks on the parking brake a lot of techs don’t know about it or don’t care to grease it

You know what's fun- filling your waste bin with volatile vapours, placing it next to the workbench, forgetting and using a grinder later on. The whoomp sound and shower of dust is invigorating!

... the good brake cleaner doesn't use anything flammable. I have seen certain off-brands that use butane (and similar) as the propellant. Watched a guy clean out a distributor cap with brake cleaner one day and it wasn't totally dry when he tried to fire the engine. The thing went off like a grenade. The flip side is I have seen guys toss a fuel filter in the trash... then forget about it. That makes a pretty good boom!

After cleaning the parking brake shoes, I lube the shoe contact points then spray the springs / hardware with Fluid Film, keeps everything like new.

I use different "artist" paint brushes from a set I get at Ocean State Job Lot . to apply grease,, anti seeze or locktite as well as when I touch up paint on my MCs or autos. The brushes that come in the can of products are just too big and have more than you need when you pull them out of the can, Neatness counts, and accuracy hits the mark. I retired from aviation maintenance a few years back. We had a zamboni to clean our hangar floors. Part of our FOD control program. Also we would wash the aircraft in the hangars and squeege the floors afterwards.

Your disc direction is not correct in the rear... The discs should be throwing away the heat not trying to bring in the air ? Sometimes both rear discs are the same direction vane on a Audi...But not on more expensive sports cars.
@TyphoonVstrom
@TyphoonVstrom Жыл бұрын
They are fine. On those rotors, the air is drawn in at the outside edge by rotation, then expelled through the outlets near the centre. Older rotors- yes, they fling air out with centrifugal force.

Love the videos! I’m assuming you were at Lexus at one point since you CPO’d that car. What are your thoughts on Lexus? As a brand and do they hold up to their hype of being the reliable luxury brand.
@customerstateswhat
@customerstateswhat Жыл бұрын
I will say this, I drove a Lexus SC400 for 2 years, then a SC300 for 8 years and this LS 460 for 4 years now. With proper maintenance and care any vehicle will last. With Lexus you do get the reliability with the luxury but if you need a big repair, you get the Lexus pricing not the Toyota.
