Hey guys, today on CSW we have 3 clips from 3 different cars. Out of these 3 cars, which one has thee most Flavor (RUST)? These cars are much more lighter than production due to the metal falling off 🤣🤣🤣🤣One car you can inspect the rear e-brake without taking a wheel off!!! Also there will be a Part 2 with one of these vehicles. Enjoy!

I remember doing a Datsun 180B it had been Ziebarted they steam cleaned the cars and did it wet it was rotten also during the steel strike in the 80's Ford were buying cheap foreign steel 18 month old cars falling to bits . At another garage the boss was telling me his mate traded in his 3 year old Fiat for a new one he broke something on the car went to the dealers said the year storeman said car was 4 years old , we had a lad start who used to work at a place that repaired new cars including Fiats he said they stood in muddy fields for years only to be dragged out done up and sold as new cars , now a car cannot be sold as new unless it's under 6 month old so I have been told .

There isn't inspection here for anything other than emissions. Commercial vehicles (big trucks) might be am exception to that, but normal cars don't get inspected for safety.
@ratheanach5545
@ratheanach5545 2 жыл бұрын
@@merlinious01 I find that amazing.........in the UK and Ireland, (and possibly in other European countries) all cars are subject to a mandatory test/inspection when three years old, and annually thereafter. The inspection includes all lights, horn, washers/wipers, brakes, suspension, steering and structural bodywork, as well as emissions (for gas engines). The brakes and suspension are first tested by machines and then a mechanic physically checks items such as ball joints, driveshafts, steering components, brake discs/pads, drop links, trailing arms etc for wear and excessive play. They also check the entire underbody for structural rust, and will fail a vehicle for rust on brake pipes or unions, or anywhere else which affects the roadworthiness of the vehicle. It currently costs about £35 in the UK, not sure about Ireland. Government vehicles with cameras are out and about and if a vehicle is spotted without a valid test certificate, or road tax hasn't been paid, it is chased up promptly. Traffic wardens do their bit as well. It's a bit of a pain..........................but it keeps the death traps off the road, for the most part.
@merlinious01
@merlinious01 2 жыл бұрын
@@ratheanach5545 Here the requirements are pretty lax, as you can see. It is more focused on personal responsibility. If your car breaks down and causes an accident, you're liable for whatever happens, be it civilly or criminally. To give you and idea for how messed up some cars are, my ex gf's car had a hole rusted through the floor in front of the passenger seat. I could SEE the road through the floor near where my feet were. The whole car *shook* once it got above about 55 mph. That thing was a death trap if I ever saw one. But all the turn signals worked, the headlights worked, it's windows were intact, its tail lights all worked, as did its license plate lights. It also passed emissions for its age. The tires also weren't bald. So it was free to roam the roads.
@merlinious01
@merlinious01 2 жыл бұрын
@@ratheanach5545 I had learned a bit about some of the european systems back in my automotive classes. They showed a cool video where Mercedes had an inspection station inside of a big truck/van looking thing. It could drive up to a car, have the car roll inside, and they could lift and inspect the whole thing there. They talked about how all cars needed like annual or semi-annual inspections to be allowed on the road, too. I would say that such a system would make the roads safer. The problem in the US is cost and availability. In much of Europe, cars are more of a luxury than a necessity. In most of the USA, you NEED a car to survive. There is basically no public transportation outside a handful of major cities. Everything is miles away, be it employment, groceries, medical care, or government services. The sheer size of the US means there are vast swathes of land where even the police can take over an hour to reach you. One of my buddy's isn't even very rural, but the closest store to him that isn't a gas station is well over 20 miles away. When you are interviewed for jobs, they ask you about what transportation you have. Some will even coyly "walk you to your car" to make sure you have reliable transportation to work. So if you don't have a car, you're gonna have a hard time getting a job. This all adds up to cars becoming a necessity for everyday life, and if cars were held to such strict standards the costs would skyrocket, pricing countless people out of the market, removing what little economic opportunities they may have had.
@ratheanach5545
@ratheanach5545 2 жыл бұрын
@@merlinious01 Point taken, brother, but personally I wouldn't drive anything with the sort of rust damage visible here.......................I'd rather spend a few bucks on preventive maintenance and know that I have a roadworthy vehicle, than risk my life with corroded brake pipes, discs, suspension etc.Back in the days before monocoque bodies, I knew an old guy who drilled holes in all box sections in his car chassis, filled them with used engine oil, plugged the holes and drove the car for a few miles to spread the oil around. Then he drained it and sprayed the oil underneath the whole car. His driveway was for shit, but his cars never rusted.
