For all my fellow mechanics out there a piece of advice. When ever dealing with the idiotic designed engine with the oil filter on the top of the motor if you punch a hole into the top of the filter before lifting the car on the lift it will drain into the pan and prevent these messes.

@peteoutwest68392 ай бұрын
That's the direct result of our modern world with 20 pages of warnings and warning labels everywhere. People are told "no user serviceable parts" and they just drive, then drop off at the mechanic who gleefully overcharges them for "repairs" like resetting a CEL because the fuel cap wasn't on tight enough, but also, because they are simply overwhelmed with the technology.

7:50 - Had this happen on my '09 Mazda 6. The bolts that held the mid and rear exhaust together snapped and the front of the rear exhaust was hanging down. Not low enough to scrape, but juuust low enough that it caught the separation between the garage floor and driveway and almost ripped the bumper off the car. Glad the bolts didn't pop while on the highway.

I've seen that happen with a driveshaft. Car set a new Olympic pole-vault record. I've seen some vehicles with a strap loosely fitted (from factory) around the front of the driveshaft to prevent it happening.

It was doing it straight after driving, with the engine still running so I thought there's no way it'd would be the exhaust cooling down. Especially with how often the tinging noise is but hmm maybe it is just that. Thanks!

TLTR - Hit a dead deer at night in the winter. All the meat and skin froze under car. Smelled like hamburger cooking when I drove. Spent $25 at carwash with hot water to clean it all out from under car. I was coming home late from work one night just a mile or so from home. Saw a car pulled off toward the side of the road. there was no shoulder so I slowed down some, this was a 55mph state road, and moved toward the center of the highway. About the time I moved to the center of the road I saw something but didn't have time to react. It ended up being a dead deer _(the one the car had hit)_ and it was laying longways wise in the road, so much harder to see. It was a large deer, my car sat low, and the car actually went airborne. Hit back on the road, regained control and didn't wreck. It destroyed my front bumper cover, but didn't damage anything else. This was in the middle of winter, and all the meat and skin slathered all under the car. Everytime I drove to work, when I stopped at a red light people start looking around because it smelled like hamburger cooking. But since it was winter, it would just refreeze when I parked the car. After about a month of this, I was able to find a car wash that actually had Hot water. Spent like $25 to defrost and get all of that out from under my car. When I thought I was about done, a chunk of meat fell out the size of a good beef roast. Then the tail fell down in the front of the car and was just flapping in the water spray because it was caught between some metal parts. I felt sorry for who ever had to clean up the car wash bay. It looked like someone slaughtered a deer there and left half of it.
