0:00 Intro
0:04 Rear shock had snapped off somehow and stuck itself inside the wheel. All work declined, customer drove out
0:22 Customer states, vehicle has no power, found a rodents seed stash in the intake
0:33 Customers Van gained a tail after the exhaust packing started coming out - 2019 Ford Transit
0:46 They could've at least tried welding the massive leaks at a minimum
1:07 I think we found out why the steering didn't feel great
1:15 This vehicle came in with basically no oil rip the engine
1:26 They must have hit a curb or a giant pothole that just split this rim in half like this
1:32 The water pump of this -97 Wrangler failed spewing coolant through the bearing
1:41 Customer states had to jump start, this is why you let auto electricians do vehicle wiring
1:48 2015 VW Jetta with a mystery leak
2:00 Insane amount of crickets all jammed into this poor customers front bumper/radiator
2:10 Classic Michigan problems
2:14 Customer States "My brake pedals hitting the floor"
2:20 Not entirely sure on this one but perhaps the oil pan hit the against the pothole causing the oil to leak out
2:36 What the oil pan looked like after the knocking started
2:48 Not going to be rolling out of the shop any time soon
3:03 Ball joints/control arms from a 2005 Jeep Liberty definitely well overdue
3:25 Unfortunately a bit of bad news to come their way
3:58 This customers brake pads and rotors had been replaced at the dealership a month before but make a screeching noise and have this odd wear pattern
4:08 2011 Kia Forte 2.0 cold start is misfiring terribly either that or some rod knock

i was a truck driver for years. In one job I drove the same truck for about 8 years. About four years into working for this company, the indicator tree failed. It went to the workshop and they removed the steering column covers. About 2-ounces of dried, powdery tobacco came out with it. You see, I used to rest my elbows on the steering wheel so I could roll my cigarette while driving. Sometimes you hit a bump and lose a little tobacco, and it went straight into the steering column shroud and messed up the indicator tree.

*"You see, I used to rest my elbows on the steering wheel so I could roll my cigarette while driving."* Driver you're not supposed do that while driving a truck that can weigh up to 80,000 pounds. Some of these are just typical wear and tear, e.g. the worn control arm bushing, and loose ball joint. Wear generally has to reach this level for a driver to even become aware that a part needs replacing - not exactly a 'mechanical nightmare'.
@100GTAGUY
@100GTAGUY Жыл бұрын
It's the ongoing and neglected wear that does eventually become a nightmare when the owner doesn't realize the signs of wear or damage. Perhaps there's not many extreme examples in this clip today, but the nightmares are still out there.

Engines should last AT LEAST that long. My current car is a Ford 4 cylinder, 210K, only thing ever done to it is a new thermostat about 50K ago, doesn't burn a drop of oil. I've run many cars from new to 200+K and never had a single dead engine. I'm in Michigan so they always rust out and become unsafe to drive first.
@100GTAGUY
@100GTAGUY Жыл бұрын
@@John_Ridley I'm glad we usually only use sand for the lil bit of snow we get in the Colorado banana belt, I picked up a 93 ranger with like only 30k miles last year and the lack of major corrosion was beautiful. It's got plenty of surface rust don't get me wrong but it's light enough I can buff it off with Scotch Brite. The biggest issue is the half ass Jerry rigged repairs the last six owners did to it lmao. Apparently they all really hated engine systems required by the EPA... I'm hoping to give it enough TLC over the years so it can get me well past the 200k mile mark, it's got good bones but just needs some love.
@John_Ridley

@@100GTAGUY My current car is at 209K and is amazingly clear of rust. My wife kept it garaged and washed it pretty often, and she also had the shop do some rust treatment when it started to get surface rust a while back. The amazing thing is, at 209K, still has the original clutch. We've run several manual trans cars over 200K and never had to replace a clutch. We do have the advantage that a lot of the miles we put on cars are highway miles so zero wear on the clutch then.

@@AlexandarHullRichter the muffler you describe is called a reactive muffler, banging sound waves off each other to break them up, theres also apsorptive mufflers, those are the ones when you look inside them theres just a straight through hole with perforations, think sportsbike aftermarket muffler or hot dog style car muffler , some cars can have both types of muffler to cover the greatest range of harmonics.

Google seems to think that GM only used Detroit 2 stroke diesels before they went to the dirtymax, but I drove two Chevy rollbacks that had a 4 stroke Caterpillar turbo V8 similar to smallblock size. I had one spin a bearing and I had to limp it back to the shop. The other one we had to rebuild the injector pump. The spun bearing sound is an unmistakable one. The injector pump was a whole 'nother sound.

It's the sound deadening in the rear muffler that is coming out, the mufflers are filled with Glass Fiber, this happens when the wire mesh/grid that holds the glass fiber in place, rusts out. There is a tube that goes in the middle of the muffler full of holes, and between that tube and the walls of the muffler, you have this glass fiber to absorb sound. Often this can cause the exhaust to be clogged to the point of stalling the engine completely.
