Thank you so much for making this video. Now there are so many things I can add to my own honeycomb wall. Well done.

Great Video and instructions - I watched this video about 3 times. I used TinkerCad before now I use FreeCad - well because it is free and it is better than Fusion 360 - the third time it sunk in and it all clicked. This is such a complex but simple approach to a a very sophisticated design issue. Thank you for taking the time to show how this works and I have made several items for my HSW since watching this video this afternoon. From the press to the printer . . . .. thanks.

Tinkercad tip, after you trim the hex's from the shelf save them to "Your Creations" in the 'Shapes Library"

When cutting out the Shelf, and when putting the Text on the Holder, you may find using the Workplane Tool helpful. It's just below the Import button, and it will let you stick the erasing block right on the peg. Then you're sure that it's cutting out only the complete shelf. Again for the Text, using that Tool, you can ensure that it's perfectly connected to the Holder, without having to drag it up and down.

To make sense of the stud on the connectors, the placement should be the other way around.

After removing the shelf and you're left with the hex pegs I think you may want to rotate the group of pegs 180* since the shape is a BIT tappered for easier input into the honeycomb wall board. The way you moved them into the box means the tapered end is embedded into the shape instead of the larger diameter end being embedded into the shape. Great video though, I've never used TinkerCAD before but I'm liking how easy it is for this sort of thing. I generally use SketchUp, but this seems like it may be a bit easier for these simple designs.

Good catch. I haven't really paid attention to it and they have been working fine. I honestly probably have some the right way without knowing it. haha I used to use Sketchup but cant get the free version to work on my computer anymore. The web based free version is horrible. I might end up paying for it though. Push/ pull is super handy.

@@lendizzle77 I’m still sitting on SketchUp 2017 for that same reason, online version sucks. I will probably buy it someday too but until then I make 2017 work and will play with TinkerCAD for a while too. Thanks for the video!

Have you ever had issues with the lettering not looking right after you slice in Bambu labs? I've had this issue a lot, whether I use Fusion or tinker

Officially a subscriber as of this video. I've been wondering how I was going to go about aligning things. Talk about an oh duh moment. TYVM! Question. In your experience, how much weight do you think you can put on the pegs before things get weird? For heavier items, would you recommend just building the part with the connector vs the inserts like you are doing in this video? I'm not worried about the orientation FWIW but awesome call out there as I totally didn't consider that! I'm making a mod on a spool holder that I want to run off the HSW wall into my Bambu XC1 that will be printed in either PETG or ASA. Nothing crazy but if I could take my design and run like 3-4-5 spools off it, it would be pretty amazing.

It depends on what part you are using. Check out www.printables.com/@ME3D_619898/models for probably the strongest part for this system I have seen.

Thanks for the video!!! How did you get the "colored text" on the gray pla? Did you paint it or orient it so you could swap out filaments?
@lendizzle77
@lendizzle77 Жыл бұрын
It is a different color filament. The AMS on the Bambu does the filament switching for me.
@Zataril

Question.. how much (approx) of the filament did you use to create your customized attachment (i know this depends on a few factors)? If the filament roll is about 350m, how much of that did you use to make one of your honeycomb attachments? Basically want to know how cost effective a print would be. I'll been thinking about getting a bambu, and looking for practical 3d print uses.

The hex driver stand with my logo is showing 144.07g/ 48.3m as an example. That is one solid color. Doing multiple colors will have more due to priming and changing colors.

Ha! Good to see it looks like you did end up flipping the whole board the right way round. It annoyed me greatly in the first video that you used the thin part in front so the clips had nothing to clip into (like so many youtubers and uploaded makes, it just didn't make any logical sense). Added bonus is also that you get the nice looking texture from the PEI plate facing you for aesthetics.
