Please please please do a video on copper washing a knife! I’ve only found one video that explains it and it’s confusing as hell. Thanks Taylor!

Man that knife turned out great! You really can turn a budget carry into something really custom looking with a little work. Awesome job Taylor! Much appreciation for the shout out my brother!!! You are a gentleman and a scholar 😉👍🏻 Also, try not to kill Rick 😉😂

The budget way/easy way: get some marbles regent etchant(for stainless) dip the parts as long as you want. Then when you've reached your desired darkness, wash it clean and put it in a Tupperware container. Fill the Tupperware container with small rocks, your parts, and coat with oil(I use wd40, but I'm sure anything would work). Tape it closed and tape a thick towel around it and then put it in the dryer on no heat(!) for a cycle. Done. Note: you will have to sharpen the knife after.

I won't deal with non-stainless steels where I live, so my R2 is in Aus 8. It's worked well for me. Their heat treat on it is pretty darn good.
@nebulamask815 жыл бұрын
Because I don't want to have to deal with constantly fighting corrosion in a humid and salty environment. A rusted blade is a useless blade. Don't get me wrong Aus 8 isn't my steel of choice, but Ontario did a fine job on mine. Edge holds long enough to get what I need to get done and it strops back easily.
@nebulamask815 жыл бұрын
I would much rather just not have to worry about it at all. I do have knives I haven't pulled out in quite a while (should probably weed through my collection). I don't have any issues sharpening stainless and there are tough stainless steels. My mora companion and my code 4 have both been put through hell and neither have given a damn. Yea, it does take a while for a blade to rust to the point of uselessness, but I've had D2 in the past start to spot pretty quickly. I really don't see the upside for me for having non-stainless.

What was the purpose of bead blasting the clip and blade. Does it help that chemical to bond better. I have a bead blaster and all the materials I need for the job. I have acid etched before but never bead blasted the blade first. I actually just ordered the same cutjack mini. I have one in black already but the green is definitely the way to go for the acid etch. I going to heat anodize the hardware as well. The knife looks great 👍

Newbie here. I was just wondering if this is possible with stainless steel? Thank you in advance 😊

Looks good. If you buy the knife, you can do what you want with it. Tell car guys not to modify their car, the response will not be polite. Heck putting on some custom scales or a backspacer could be "customizing".

It's probably nothing but if alot of caffeine made your buddy dizzy like that he should probably schedule to talk to his doc. Get an ekg scheduled and maybe test his A1c. Sure it could have been lots of caffeine and dehydration, could have been alot of stuff, but it could have been a cardiac arrhythmia or his blood sugar dipping low.
