*I hope you include this story in your next video.* About a month ago I decided to start carrying a bandana because I could use it to stop bleeding or dry off my hands or wipe something off. Then the next week I was looking for one of my friends so I went out to the school courtyard but then I saw my other friend lying on the ground with someone holding a knit cap up to his head. My immediate reaction was to go over and see what was happening I saw blood all over my friends head and his hand. I then pulled out my bandana and put it on the the effected area to stop the bleeding because the knit cap was doing nothing. I made sure to apply pressure to the wound and it eventually stopped the bleeding. Later I learned that someone threw a rock at his head but it was an accident. My friend is now all healed up and I spent some time at his house the next day and he acted completely normal. He said right after that he was taken to the hospital and got his head glued up. Luckily I had the bandana to stop the bleeding and also I had been first aid trained. After washing the bandana I still carry it everyday.

With the Wiha driver, I wrap a rubber band round it. It adds both girth and grip. A little unrefined for such a smart kit, but it works and doesn’t cost anything. I have thought of trying an inch or so of textured shrink wrap.

That's a nice little kit for knife repair but it would be a little much to carry that with me everywhere I go. I can't see myself when I'm out and about doing errands, stopping to repair my knife. I usually have a Swiss Army knife and a Benchmade Mini Adamas, which is already arguably overkill for urban EDC. Pretty sure I won't be at a loss for a blade if something goes wrong with one. I can always worry about repairs later.

Hinderer recommends not putting loctite on the body screws. That's how I run my XM-18 and I from personal experience that seems to be the best way to do it. Loctite on the pivot and none on the body screws.

@@BestDamnEDC oh wow, that does suck, I put loctite on my first XM-18's body screws and I was in a world of hurt trying to get it un-tightened. What's worked for me is taking off the pocket clip and just using some scotch tape on the chicago screws to hold them in so they won't fall out. Has made it way faster to assemble and disassemble.

New to the EDC/pocket knife world, so I'm not sure if this is a dumb question: do some knives need to be maintained with some sort of oil on the actual blade as well? I think I've heard of people using mineral oil or something... to prevent rust?
@ironman2326 Жыл бұрын
High carbon steel needs to be oiled to prevent rust. I use mineral oil from the pharmacy because it's non toxic. Use a drop and spread it over the entire blade. Let it set for 20 min or so then wipe it down with a clean cloth. It will provide a protective barrier. If you use and wash your blade often, you'll want to oil it every so often. Regardless, make sure to keep your blade dry.

@Curseoftheblade34534 жыл бұрын
if you google deep carry pocket clip for Spyderco Tenacious or something along those lines, i'm sure you'll find something. I don't think you'll find any bearings for the tenacious as the Hinderer Tri-Wave Pivot is the only system (to my knowledge) that allows for different opening options. 90+% of knives only use whatever they come with from the factory.
