Customizing an Akubra Hat with Pencils

😍I love that your husband has a "good, going out" Akubra! So Australian! But even more... I LOVED THIS HAT!! I opened it in a live stream with my members, and first assumed you must have just repurposed the box, because an Akubra would be amazing! So it was a wonderful surprise. The art was beautiful, and I've always secretly wanted an Akubra but not had a real reason to buy one - so I'll proudly wear this as my crafty splash of Australian culture when I travel. And it feels incredibly special and personal! And for anyone wondering - the quality of the pencil work was amazing! My whole team was amazed at how neat it was. I wondered if it was Inktense, but it was so neat it was hard to tell. They also enjoyed the extra chocolates and gifts that were sent to them. You are truly amazing!

I realized the recipient as soon as you showed us a pencil. PERFECT reason for your color choice - it made me choke up. This is so cool! I never would have guessed you could use pencils on fabric like that, but it totally makes sense with the Inktense pencils. The design you chose turned out really pretty, and I love the color palette you went with! I'm sure that Sarah will love it. Hopefully we get an update when she receives it.

Wow that looks amazing, I would never have thought of using inktense pencils like this! I love the last wet, pencil, wet technique, it really makes a nice dark line that makes the design totally pop!

This is so cool. Really neat how the pencils go onto the fabric so vibrantly. I love the gecko story. PS investing in some transfer paper would be ideal for these types of projects.

The hat looks great and I know she will love it. Also your art always looks great. Sometimes you’re too critical of your own talents. You should recognize how great you are. I know I don’t know you personally but something’s that you have said your videos has led me to believe you’re a great person as well. I understand the nervousness of not wanting to muck up an Akubra. I bought my husband one as a gift when we moved to acreage 20 years ago and that cost $110 back then! 😱 You did an awesome job and I for one would be proud to own something like that. Light colours first and always activate between colours unless you want to blend the colours. I did some shoes with Inktense and yes, I had puddles. OMG it was terrible.

Is the akubra somthing traditional in Australia? Because I've never heard of that before Anyways never ever doubt yourself because this came out BEAUTIFUL I loved the gift its perfect for Sarah. I hope you do a drawing with all your mushroom characters in one painting but on your ipad it will be sooo cute and then maybe make it into merch? It's all up to you tho ❤
