Considering how expensive these figures are here in the Philippines, the lack of paint details are unforgivable. Now you just made it look like it's a real premium figure. Great job as always.

This turned out amazingly well. Really shows what good painting could do even to a soft sculpt like this. I genuinely think your finished work here is easily comparable to the Storm Collectibles and I agree that the head looks more like Heihachi than Storm's attempt.
@VADtoys4 ай бұрын
This all means a lot to me! I did cheat somewhat since alot of the wrinkles are simply painted in but you can't really tell to be honest. The shape of the sculpt itself is good, just the finer details simply aren't there.
@thatguycalledphil68084 ай бұрын
This is definitely one if the cleanest works you have done. As for the the difference between this repaint and the Storm figure, I think the eyes aren't very visible from a distance for the SC figure. The personality just doesn't cone through very well. You were correct too wuth the hair.

Looks great but I feel like the belt could have used some wash and maybe a bit of dry brushing but still, really nice job. Also, did you end up sealing the paintjob in any way so it won't come off as easily if you pose him?
@VADtoys4 ай бұрын
I was contemplating doing something to the belt but ultimately simply didn't. I felt like the white drybrushing on the Storm Collectibles belt was a bit too much anyway. Also yes! I usually just seal figures with some matt spray varnish. Varnish doesnt really helpt against paint rub but it makes the figure more durable to the touch. =)

Not sure if you've ever used oil paints but oil washes thinned with mineral spirits work extremely well. They have much less surface tension than water thinned paints and will not water droplet up like you noticed with the pants. They also run into creases way more easily. Only downside is the drying time.
@VADtoys4 ай бұрын
Never used oil paints cause they seem scary to work with. What do you mean with surface tension?
@LuKe311974 ай бұрын
@@VADtoysSort of hard to explain but they don’t create beads of water/wash and resist the surface they’re being applied to the way that wash did on the pants. I only use oil for washes and as long as a clear coat of lacquer or something similar is put over any water soluble paints beforehand, there shouldn’t be any problems. I have a beginners set of oil paint for canvas and some mineral spirits and that’s basically a lifetimes worth for me.

The legs are unfortunately a very different plastic. I threw a dark blue was on mine with a grey drybrush behind it. I also took and painted in his chest scar which was a bit of a pinkish red I had made, I’m thinking now I should have added some brown maybe? Either way, it looks so much better. Unfortunately he and Kazyu are in a box right now and I haven’t gotten to his son yet due to other custom projects, either way, another great tutorial, now, I need to track down an Aloy, if you’ll excuse me.
@demgutts4 ай бұрын
Did you wash the figure in hot water and dish soap? When you were painting the legs it seemed to have mold release on it which caused that paint reaction, were it wasn't taking to the plastic
