Mint video boys. The 2.slow is the best worst engine vw ever made haha. We had a customer with a 99.5 golf 2.0 AEG, bought new, that made it to 638k km before he gave up on it. Was burning so much oil it destroyed the cat and he had to replace the spark plugs every 10k cause they kept fouling. What a beauty!!

They have a few different bottom plates on mk4s. The 2.0l had 2 types old ones were metal newer were plastic and the tdis had an entire plastic belly pan to the subframe. I went to the vw academy in 05 just before the mk5 was released. Spent years under mk4s lol.

My 2.0 slow had its head gasket replaced at one point. As a joke, the shop must have decked the head more than needed because it read 245psi across all cylinders. It was junk like yours, but if you manually selected 1st it would hit rev limiter @6750 rpm.

awesome video. the 2.0l 8v has to be the least fun VW engine ever made, had one in a 2012 fat jetta and it was dangerously slow and because of the lack of power, the fuel economy was also dog shit. In a mk4 tho it probably wouldnt be so bad. lol at the smoking run that was amazing.

@@welliguess8927 it was like 14 seconds to 60 I think it was brutal, could never make a yellow light and merge gaps were always a nightmare. The gas pedal was a noise pedal with no pull whatsoever.

A little off topic but do you guys have any recommendations for a tune for my mk4 20th gti? It’s a 1.8t, I have been doing extensive research but I honestly really don’t know what to go with. I’m leaning towards eurodyne maestro because I would love to lear how to mess with the tune my self. But I’m honestly not sure exactly what I should be looking at( car will have just bolt on mods maybe eventually an upgraded turbo)
