Thank you for sharing! Especially the body filler technique and the fact that you shared your knowledge of sand paper grit size by doubling it at each stage. Love it! Thanks you!

I use a NIB file, or use a single edge razor blade and wrap a bit of tape around each side leaving only a small spot in the middle of the blade exposed.

@MrAudi2204 жыл бұрын
Well thank you so much for explaining this properly, i had major runs on one side because that side of my trunk lit had been sitting in the sun,so today i spend a couple of hours applying putty and sanding it down with 320 wet,and it's almost entirely gone,just need to finish off tomorrow with the 320 untill it's completely flat and then starting to work my way up in sandpaper to remove the scratches and then safe some money to buy a polisher and some buffing compound.So big thanks again, it's my very first paint job at home and the results are quite amazing,i'm doing all this with a lvlp gun, and i can highly advise this type of gun for anyone starting out.👍✌️👉

Hi, will this also work when you have a run on the paint itself not clear coat? Nice vid by the way.
@jackskeleton957 жыл бұрын
temperature can also affect whether you get runs or not since paint doesnt dry in the cold as fast

Correct, and I’d hope any painter would know that >.

I can tell when the seasons change. In the summer I have to hammer it on. 110 degrees with 90 percent humidity. When it starts cooling off I'll start getting runs. Have to dial it back and go to smaller tips. When its really cold 40 50 it'll look OK then when you make it back around for the next pass 20 30 mins later it start running. Take it easy in the winter and do a thin tack coat. And I'll use a heating pad to heat the paint and hardners on

Tungsten blocks have come along way bro...not just your standard square ones anymore. I swear by them. especially the cheaper CRS brand ones. Those and a razor blade with the corners taped up are my go to methods. Cheers mate. Edit. I do understand you are making these videos for peeps who may just have basic tools. But tungsten is the bomb.

Did you mix the fine body filler with hardener and let it dry ? what kind of foam pad did you use?
@MatthieuLibeert7 жыл бұрын
good video, thanks! istead of using bodyfiller you could use some masking tape as well to avoid sanding the area you dont want to sand right?
@customspraymods7 жыл бұрын
Matthieu Libeert that may work. Sometimes you may have more than one run but a whole line of runs. Using tape might take forever to mask.

if i am using the sandpaper wrapped around wooden mixing stick method, what sandpaper grit should i use? i was thinking about using 1000 or 1500 or 2000 but i have no idea. Should i use multiple grits? also if i then re clear the panel, will i have to sand the whole panel or that is not necessary

@jhenson51682 жыл бұрын
Forgot about residue on the substrate. Sometimes it's inevitable. Humidity plays a big part in runs as well. I'm spraying right now at work. Industrial painting, no "paint bay" or climate/humidity control in oily greasing beams of steel. It happens.

I think base coat is matte so if you havent layer clear yet then just sand it to make it even and spray a coat of base again?

How long do you have to wait for the clear coat to dry before you can begin to remove the run? I’ve read that a week to fully cure and harden, then also I’ve read that clear coat is not like paint and it can be fully cured and hardened in 20 minutes?

While the clear is wet, lay a piece of tape on the run, run your finger over the tape where the run is then pull the tape off, wait for the clear to flash some. Put some more clear on then the next day all you have to do is cut it a little and buff. Good as new 👌

My situation is that I hand painted several rock chip about 3-5 milliliters big and I had the touch up paint go pass the chip area about 3-5 millimeters more because of using a wrong size of a brush. I was trying to sand it with 3000 grid and its not coming out. Its already flat by wet sanding, but its darker than the original paint. It looks like a round dark spot and its not going anywhere. How can I fix it. Thanks
