How long will this last. I would be concerned about peeling, especially in a harsher climate. Is that ever a problem? Thanks

Clarification: Thinners are for lacquer-based paints. Reducers are used for urethane-based paints. The two solvents are not interchangeable!

paint noob here: is there a reason why you physically remove the paint with a wire wheel vs using a chemical paint stripper? it seems like your method is more work vs stripping the paint chemically and then quickly sanding/degreasing the bare metal

There's paint thinner for oil based paint known as "White Spirit" or "Turpentine Substitute" not to be confused with Cellulose Thinner for Cellulose based paints which are used on cars. This has a much stronger smell/vapour similar to nail varnish remover and will damage/strip car paint

I’m going to use it! Current chroming is junk. It scratches too easily. Not like old school 60s chrome. I have a lot of parts chromed because I restore cars and bikes. Because chrome is so easily scratched there’s no advantage to have “real” chrome. Very expensive though.

Why do some people sand paper the clear coat and then polish it? Your videos leave that out. It is strange that people do that since the clear coat should look already shinny and polished.

Hey mate I've trusted a few local painters in my area, I'm a bit north of Cairns and was not so happy, was wondering if you would be up for painting a tank and side covers for a 1972 Honda cb500 k not for free of course but the side covers have no cracks and the tank seems bloody good, just don't trust anyone up here any more

Fantastic video - thank you for the time and money you put into your videos. At 69, I thought that I might enjoy painting. I build high performance motorcycles and I have been building a 1976 Yamaha RD 400 for a drag bike - can't beat those 2 strokes. I went a bit crazy on the bike and started the motor on a auxiliary gas tank. Everything on this bike I have gone through from titanium covered fork tubes to all bearings on the frame, on and on. What is left to do is paint the tank and new fiberglass body kit. I didn't think it would be as difficult as what I found out. Everything I try to paint comes out with orange peel. All you pro's make it seem so easy, but that is the furthest from the truth. I honor all of you out there! I am in Nevada in the USA and we get snow here, so my idea of painting is hindered by bad weather and having to paint outside. I have good equipment but that doesn't make a good painter - I'm living proof. I am going to watch more of your videos, then enroll in one of your courses. Thank you!

@@customspraymods Thank you and your more than welcome to come by. I now work in my garage with my three pups and try to stay away from customers now. Some just won't give up, so I still do some boring, valve grinding, valve jobs and porting. Do you own the store and all the equipment? That's a really great setup and very clean. Thank you again, I appreciate your reply. I hope you have continued success and most important, always enjoy what you do.
