Just curious, have you ever thought about trying your hand with carving Bondo (or any other generic 2 part polyester body filler that isn't a spot putty)? I know the Japanese love to use it for making blocks that are an exact size when they scratch build gunpla, and then carve it away until they have an exact shape needed because unlike wood it has no grain. It also doesn't have the issue of being too flexible in thin pieces like epoxy putty, or needing to be baked like polymer clay. That and you can pick it up at Walmart, or the neighborhood auto parts store in pretty much even the smallest of towns. And it has the added bonus of being nice and heat resistant should you need it for making vacuum forming bucks.

Very cool, may have to look into this.

@@theDMsCraft Here's a long vid about how Plamo customizes their models using a generic doll mold that gets filled with polyester putty. They then add wire to various parts, bend into place to get the right pose, and then add more putty to get the basic shape right before doing the detail work. It's all in Japanese, but you should be able to get the general idea of how it's done by watching them work through it step by step. Enjoy! kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3axdWptoJ5oq8U

Do you know if it's oossible to cut a small slit on one end? Wanting to use to store embroidery floss and a slit would keep thread from unwinding!

usually that splits the stick because it follows the woodgrain

If I didn’t already have a set of heavy duty sheers I got when I was making a bunch of goblin terrain, I’d check these out. Maybe next time I swing by dollar tree I’ll see if they have one for fun

I use a pair of leather scissors from tandy leather. I got them on sale for a couple bucks. They have red handles. Theyre the only pair less than i think 50 bucks lol. When they get dull/loose i cut. A piece of 220 grit sand paper a few times and smack the rivet with a hammer to tighten them back up.

It seems Dollar Tree no longer carries these at the moment but here is a similar cutter (unfortunately not a dollar): amzn.to/2XNvRsw
