I am going to guess one of the hothouses. The pickets for the fencing are being covered by the buy coffees and you also said "hopefully get the fencing done". Also its the wrong time of year to in stall a watering system and plants are not an "it". On a totally different topic - today was the first day of my roadside flower wagon - the season has officially begun!
@phaedragardeness Жыл бұрын
Ahhh Evelyn, You've put some thought into this!! Good point about the plants.... I can confirm you are correct about the plants haha. Yay wow thats awesome!! How did it go? Happy flowering!! We are anticipating our first frost over here... I hope it holds off until after Mother's Day, but we just never know!
@EvelynM-vlogs Жыл бұрын
@@phaedragardeness it went better than expected, I think people are now expecting the flower wagon to appear at this time of year and are looking for it. My main product right now is (planted) 3 tulips or dafs per one gallon pot for $10 - I don't do tulip or daf bouquets - I always end up selling all of the pots over the course of 3 weeks but then I only have 126 pots in total. Also pink Camellias, dried poppy pods, and pink cherry blossom with burgundy leaves bouquets.

Garden looking great. I love seeing so many closeups of the flowers. The big pink cactus dahlias are fun. The Mexico ones are pretty. Love aromatic foliage, great idea growing basil for bouquets. Billy buttons are so cute. With the benefit of hindsight do you reckon the celosias knew what they were doing by flowering early before the mothers day frost came?
@phaedragardeness Жыл бұрын
Hello!! The Celosia had flowered long before Mothers Day! They Flower around 85-90 days and could have flowered in time for Valentines (which was the plan). But We had much cooler weather than usual so they didn’t flower in time but also didn’t go to seed and we thought let’s just hold them to Mother’s Day. Now we know not to do that and just use them as they bloom!!

Your flower farm is looking amazing, congratulations your hard work is paying off. If you don't mind me asking where do you get your flower netting from? And where do you get your large labels from or do you make them yourself? Love following along with your journey, thank you for sharing.

Hello! Thankyou! The flower net is from Aqua Gardening in Australia. The plant labels that I put around the stems of the dahlias were just off eBay. The big ones poked in the ground are old venetian blinds I cut up!

I don't know what the go is with Billy Buttons. I had about 15 from seed. I ended up with 4 plants & now l only have 2 decent plants that are flowering. All the others sort of went wilty looking & eventually carked it. I couldn't work out if they were too wet or too dry. Not sure what conditions they need, except l did see that in nature they live in well drained swampy areas?? I would like to grow them but there doesn't seem to be much info around on growing them. Haven't forgotten the Alliums l was going to send to you. Just haven't got around to them yet. Hopefully soon.
@phaedragardeness Жыл бұрын
Why are they so hard to grow!!!! I would have thought they wouldn't like it to be too wet. I follow a couple of billy button growers and they are growing wild in open flat paddocks in Qld. Doesn't seem like they get a whole lot of water. I think I over watered mine. Im wondering if they might be one of those plants that love to be neglected? Thats ok!! They are welcome anytime you think of it, no rush!! x
@dianecotton9531 Жыл бұрын
@@phaedragardeness I think it might be just me & maybe I over watered.

Hi Phaedra, Dahlias are looking gorgeous. I've had more luck with Billy Buttons direct seeded in a patch not cared for at much at all and then divided the plants later. Rabbits like them too🙄 Also do you save much seed or buy most of it each season? I
@phaedragardeness Жыл бұрын
Hey Bec! That is a good idea, I think I'll try that. its been really hard keeping them alive in trays! Do you recall what time of year you set the seed? We haven't used much saved seed. Only with some sunflowers, nigella, Dara, and ive saved cosmos seed for next year. Often we are cutting everything and don't leave plants in the rows long enough for them to set seed!

Your eyebrows look good darker. I used to dye my eyebrows as well being a ginger they were really light. I got them tatooed in August. I should have done it years ago.

Hi Julie! Bracken palomino is really good in a vase too, a really good vase life. Im loving him! I really hope I can keep these billy buttons alive this time too. My eyebrows are going lighter and lighter.. I think they are going grey so dying them looks a lot better I think! The farm is looking great, I love dahlias ❤ I bought some cafe au lait dahlia seeds and was wondering if the plants grown from seed are as good as those from tubers?
@phaedragardeness Жыл бұрын
Hello!!! The seeds won’t be a replica of the parent plant unfortunately 🙁. The only way to get a replica is to buy tubers. You might get something really special and unique from the seeds though!!
