Thank you for these videos. My grandpa passed away a few days ago. He made beautiful stained glass pieces. He started a piece for my grandma but died before he could finish it. So I'm watching all these videos to learn how to do this so I can finish the piece he started for her. So far, you've given me hope that I might actually be able to do this.

Thanks for the info I got my first grinder back in June and have been working with it a lot I was using a hand sander that I got at Walmart and I still use it from time to time when I have a big job to work on but 90 0/0 of the time I use my grinder also I was working with leather and have a tool that I would do the ends of the leather and have been using it when I put the tape on the glass also I found a better way to get the tape by laying it with the sticky side up and putting the glass in the middle I can keep it straight. I am looking into black Penta. Sorry if I didn't get the name right. Can you show everyone just how to apply it for I am still new at stained glass and always looking for tips to make my work look better. Thanks again for all your help.

How do you determine when to use groziers or running pliers?

Great question. Groziers are used mainly for shapes. Running pliers are used for straight lines. They can also be used to start the run in a curve.

I have a question. When you are cutting the glass, does your middle finger actually touch the glass? Does that also help you guide the cut? Thanks so much! I love your channel ❤

No it doesn’t touch the glass. Your middle finger helps stabilize the cutter. Thanks for watching.

I haven’t done Stainglass in many years. I recently decided to pull out my supplies in see how much I remember. Your videos are great a resource offering good tips and reminders. I do have one suggestion. Is it possible to zoom in your camera to focus more closely on the work when you are teaching cuts and foiling etc. It is difficult to see what you’re actually doing from the distance of your current camera settings.

How do you cut a very small internal 90 deg angle on stained glass. I’ve had two projects that needed pieces to go on to square corners. I grinder isn’t fine enough to cut a real 90° internal angle. Any advice would be appreciated.. thank you

Maybe you could buy a saw. It would be cheaper to redraw tbe pattern. Also that cut creates a weak point in the glass.

I got it! Yay! I have some older copper foil that looks oxidized, should I throw it out and buy new stuff? Also does it matter where you store the foil? I have it stored in a room that gets pretty cold in the winter and very warm in the summer. Thanks again for another great video!
@ARTyRV3 жыл бұрын
Pull off the first few layers of that copper foil and see if it’s still good. The air will oxidize the foil. Keep in a ziplock bag to prevent that from happening. Cold shouldn’t make a difference but the heat may. Maybe just keep the foil inside the house in a ziplock in summer. Let us know on that. Congratulations on learning that new cutting skill!
@elizabetht62053 жыл бұрын
@@ARTyRV Thank you so much, I will put them in a ziplock today while I'm thinking about it. They seem to still be sticky when I pull the tape back so that good. I can't wait to learn more!

I live in South Florida and i keep my copper foil in a tin box in the fridge, otherwise it will oxidize so fast. Humidity sucks. 😂

If i were to make a window of a particular size, how much space should i account for seams and frame- what i would call a seam allowance, do you calculate the sq ft of glass required?
