So I know many may look at my hair and instantly think my hair looks pristine. My hair also feels amazing and smooth.After my hair Cut Some of my shed hair has proven that some of my hair strands are just severely damaged and must be removed. I have another appointment tomorrow morning to just get a short cut . If you’re interested in following me grow my hair out again without using braids or extensions then here we go again. My experience has taught me several things. The hardest lesson though was having to loose my hair that I had grown over the past few years. I have received two set backs from curly cuts. One on 2021 where the first curly cut went horribly wrong and the stylist just jacked my hair up😤. In January of 2022 I had to start over with a fresh cut. I have had several set back since trying curly cuts and doing the BGC method. April 2023 was the first time I knew I had experienced damage and we have since then been removing at least 3 inches at each appointment . I initially didn’t realize that it wasn’t just curly cuts but in fact the entire routine was just horrible . My hair needs deep conditioning treatments, leave in conditioner and that using those hard holding gels and then sitting under a dryer was killing my hair 😢. The crazy thing is I am hopeful that by summer I will hopefully have surpassed this current length. Thanks to everyone who has been supportive, thank you to AHG who has taken the time to listen and take action to help all the ladies who are experiencing setbacks from following the BGC method.

I have a question. Do you think trying a bunch of different products all the time could have contributed to the damage of your hair?
@rosieamelia5955
@rosieamelia5955 9 ай бұрын
@ayannagb8587 so great question. I don’t think so because I stayed consistent with my routine. My weekly base gel was UFD , I might have switched up my topper product a few times based on the wash and go I wanted . My shampoo was consistent, the conditioner I used was consistent. Also my routine was curated under the care of a stylist. Aisha hair as we see is just as damaged as mine if not worse after blowing out her hair. As Aisha said she isn’t cutting the hair she needs it for a wash and go. As any changes in styling products I did discuss with the professional I was seeing.

Honestly Aisha isn’t and wasn’t trained enough to be giving 100 of women natural hair advice. As we have seen her hair is very damaged, she tried to convince us but we have eyes 👀. The part I find horrible is when you guys initially came forward asking for answers and the way they responded 🚩🚩🚩🚩. They knew what they were doing,but the money was too good. All the stylist are also aware but again the money is too good. Look Aisha can’t even do a blow out, now we know her skill level. As black women we are always being taken advantage of, this one was vicious because these are black women. Hair is such an important aspect of black culture. Hopefully the people still follow these women who are promoting texturism will come to their senses. I am here for your journey. You got this ❤

@Beautifulbrownskin156 I’m not siding with BGC in any way. As soon as I saw the recommendation to not use oils and butters, I KNEW this wasn’t anything I would try. I haven’t even tried the 30 day detox. I know my hair and that wasn’t and isn’t for me. But I’d like to know, in your opinion, in what way were they promoting texturism?

It’s very interesting that people are still so caught up with defined curls that they basically are unwilling to make changes. Thank you for sharing your journey, because had you not many women would be still experiencing continued damage. I am so excited to follow and see you grow your hair back. It’s wild how the hair can look so healthy but when you get up into it you see all the splits, incomplete splits and if you’re like me some major texture changes. It’s just unreal that following that method plus the combination of not having the ends properly maintained (even though we were told they were) could create such damage! Unless you’re currently going through it, it’s hard to wrap your head around it. Especially when the hair looks healthy to the eyes. The silver lining is that now we both know better and have changed things up significantly. Can’t wait until this time next year because we will both have totally different heads of hair that are actually healthy! So here’s to healthy hair! ✨🥂 ✨

Hi Rosie! I appreciate you sharing your hair journey. Everyone’s hair journey is different depending on products we use, it is amazing to know that products we use can affect our hair in different ways. I have cut my hair so many times not being happy with the way it looks or feels and not spending enough time on finding out my hair was looking the way it did. I recently cut my hair from ground zero lol to get a fresh start again and I’m hoping to pay more attention to the hair products I use and make adjustments as needed. There are some many hair products out there but everyone has a different grade of hair that needs different products I’m grateful for that. I appreciate you and being willing to cut your hair shows strength in knowing if you keep the length it will continue to grow with those split ends. Realizing you need to cut it and being willing to cut it shows a lot about you and your personality. Shows that what you mention you would rather have health over length and in due time with your new healthy habits your hair well bounce back by next year as you mentioned. But I didn’t mean for this to be a long essay! But thank you for your channel and always being positive and sharing the real issues that come with getting hair healthy ❤

Did you get cuticle damage/coil changes from following the BGC method or something else?
@Jade-rf8ov
@Jade-rf8ov 9 ай бұрын
@@cmw1336 Hi! I got damaged hair from following the BGC method for 6+ months. I have incomplete splits and a loose coil pattern in the ends of my hair and it also has lost the ability to hold a definition in my twist outs and are visibly drier. I've been natural for 10+ years and had never seen this happen to my hair before. It's honestly only been easier for me to rectify because I have low porosity hair which takes a lot to get damaged. If I had normal porosity-high porosity hair or if my texture was finer, I would have 100% needed to BC my hair. To be specific, the 'all-purpose shampoos' and even the recommended moisturizing shampoos wreaked havoc on my hair causing the splits, and the lack of leave-in conditioners weakened my cuticles further. Moving forward, I won't follow the BGC method to the T because I would not retain length but the BGC method is fabulous for special occasions for me for when I wish to style my hair into a great wash-and-go once I've used my choice of shampoos/conditioners/leave-ins.

So we had similar damage that you described. The texture changes at the end were very hard to deal with. Those areas of my hair were rough and only a cold rinse would lay the cuticle down. Hi Rosie ! I think you’re doing the right thing and your hair will bounce back in no time . When I started to learn the method it was difficult to find the proposed shampoo (all purpose ). The one that I managed to get was AG balance. At the first it was great but after a while I felt it was stripping like almost like a clarifier. So when I was done I went back to my previous shampoos. I might buy it as a clarifier shampoo but I already have the kinky curly knot today that I like.

This!! My hair looks like yours and is thick and full throughout but when inspected closely I can tell it’s not as healthy as it needs to be and I’m anal about my ends. I always knew something was off when I got curly cuts. My ends instantly became like velcro after the first cut and I just thought it was part of the healing of my hair. I used my stylist’s method religiously and just never felt comfy with how hard detangling became. I got 3 or 4 more curly cuts and it never remedied. I blew out my hair and did a blunt long bob type cut to make everything even and it’s been so easy now to detangle but I’m not out of the woods yet. I have about an inch and a half to get rid of now that has some knots and splits. The method may work for some but just not others… and that’s okay.

I'm so sorry that you have gone through this. I thought that you had changed from using "the method" and started using leave-ins and deep conditioners and it was fixing things. Your hair in the last couple of videos since changing from "the method" has felt hydrated and moisturized and it's not until you go to the stylist that you see "all the damage.' You did not see mid-shift splits until this blow out? Just for clarity how long did you use "the method" vs how long you switched back to leave-ins and deep conditioning? Personally, I subscribe to Afrikan Hair God's methods of hair grease, water and flat twist styles, so I'm so not use "the method" or Anthony Dickey, so I'm not trying to defend "the method." Respectfully, all humans have heads of hair that contain many individual hairs with splits in them. It is delusional to think that you can simply cut all of them out, or even find all of them. Also, it is alarming that you are keeping multiple bags of your own hair, and that you think that the problem is shampooing your hair once a week? Perhaps I’ve misunderstood. It seems like you may be overly fixated on your hair and you have a stylist that is willing to ride your anxiety train for profit. Please meditate on what real issue is. Be well!
