I am fortunate, two of my daughters are more than happy to “shop at moms” first and don’t balk to pay for it. My oldest who lives 4 hours away, well every year when I ask what they want for Christmas, she sweetly says “mom, we don’t need anything but I know you will do something so feel free to send a care package of household items”, I am happy to do that ! I also give items to my girls throughout the year but they always show gratitude for it !

Me too. Adult children who do not coupon but will pay whatever the price I pay. Always happy when they are saving money in these hard times. For Christmas I stocked them up on deodorant, tampons, mascara, razors… whatever would allow them to spend more on groceries ❤ They laughed

I don't let Many people know that I stockpile. To avoid this very thing. Next week I am giving a needy family a new sheet set, shampoo, body wash, kids body wash dish detergent and a large pack of paper towels. The father has cancer they have 4 kids and they're finally getting a apartment after living in a hotel room. My workplace is pitching in to help this family get furniture and everything else they may need. I think it's good to help people who need it but I have zero tolerance for entitled people.

The best thing I was ever taught was don't give something away with expectations otherwise that's not a gift it's an obligation. If I don't feel like I can give something away without expecting something in return than I choose the "selfish" route and just keep it. I've also learned that sometimes giving something to someone when they haven't asked for it first is more of a burden than a help because as someone who's been on the receiving end it feels like someone might think less of you, pity you, or are putting expectations on you that you don't want to be involved in. It's a very situational thing and it's easy for one side to get it wrong. Sometimes it burns and sometimes it's the best thing in the world to be able to help others.

Hubby and I temporarily live with his daughter. We pay her rent, as we should. We get told by her that my stockpile and coupon deals is “community” whether it is in our fridge & freezer or her fridge. She is all for helping her friends out with items I had purchased . I eventually had to stow away my items in our closet and cedar chest. I have offered to teach them couponing but, they don’t have the ambition to put into it. Thank you RK for you do !

That is so true... Your stockpile is yours, to do as you are pleased with it. Don't be bullied. I have two sisters that live in small cities in SC. They both are nurses and almost always say, their stores do not have any of the items which were on sale when they get a chance to go. So, I'll shop with them in mind. They do pay for whatever I get unless it's penny items. I have started asking them to donate even to the penny fund😅, if they wish. They usually give a couple of dollars. Then I have three other sisters who I send items to or take items during the holidays. Many times they do not say "Thank You" via phone call or text, only if I give it directly to them. However, if they find out what I gave to the other two sisters, they have something to say. I'm almost at the point of 'Cut Off". Thanks for sharing this video.

Back when we could still double & triple coupons, I had a pretty large stockpile. When my BIL's family was struggling, so we decided to gather some things together & drive it over. Pulling stuff out to put away, BIL makes a few snarky comments ( I tend to totally ignore him, so wasn't listening). Hubby was next to him & suddenly said time to go. Apparently, BIL was mad that 1) there was nothing specifically for him; 2) he preferred brand names; & 3) why hadn't we given them some of the GOOD food he knew we had. (They hadn't asked for any of it, but we knew they needed it.) Talk about ungrateful! Told the family how cheap we were because we didn't give them more! 😠 Refused to help him after that.

It is absolutely okay to say no. I find that many of us like doing for others and not expecting anything in return. A thank you is the least they could do. I live in an apartment complex and regularly give things to various neighbors whether I really know them well or not. They always say thank you and some offer to pay me something even though I have not asked. I feel good in helping others. As many of us are people pleasers, we have to practice the word NO. Many of us rarely use that word because of our general nature. It’s definitely okay to have a voice and use it. If they are like me, I really have an issue when I feel I’m being taken for granted. No is now a word in my vocabulary. I still help others but I don’t have to hold on to hurt feelings from others not appreciating anything I do for them. Try it, it’s quite liberating. It also makes the other Thank you’s I get that much sweeter. 🥰

I've received comments during stockpile sales at my home or from shoppers on facebook marketplace stating that some of my items are not 50% off Walmart prices. I do not reply or try to defend my decisions. But i would just once like to let loose and tell them: I am the one who shopped, paid for, brought home, lugged to the basement, put items in orderly fashion, took pictures, uploaded to various shopping sources, answered questions, lugged purchased items from the basement to my car, delivered purchased items or made arrangements to meet somewhere for delivery (for no charge). Bottom line... my time and efforts are worth the extra dollar, maybe two, for the heavier or more costly items (such as beauty creams) that cost more to begin with and are harder to grab for decent prices.

Both of my grown children are great shoppers and they owe it all to mom. My daughter and het friends always called me the sale item mom when they were young. The girls would let me know what great things they found on sale. All of this started at about 10 years of age for them. Now all in their 30s they are proud thrifty shoppers. My son in his 40s has always been the shopper for his home and his wife rarely goes to the store with him. We always like to compare who got the best deal. For those who complain I guess they have money to burn.

My youngest is always quick to accept detergent and toothpaste but can’t manage to say thank you, come for a meal or accept a call from me even once a month. When my nephew moved out in his own last year I sent a huge box of paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, toilet cleaner, floor cleaner, window cleaner back to with his parents. At least $100 worth of stuff. Not even a text message sent in return for my apparently “lame gift”. I now only share with my oldest son and elderly mother. I am done.
