Do you have to select carplay every time you get back in the vehicle? OR does it reconnect automatically and continue where it left off like regular carplay does..

do you have to have your phone on and app open for it to work a particular app? mine when I'm using Gaia app with iphone plugged in, I have to have the phone on and app open on Gaia. wondering if you still have to do that with this wireless device.
