Hey! Im not sure if you care of not but I believe those floor plates should be the floating style.... Since the basement floor and the floor joists move independently from eachother, its best to do a double bottom plate with a 1.5 inch gap between them... Then you pound a very large nail through them and remove the 2x4 spacer... Then they float on those nails.. You just dont screw or attach anything to the very bottom plate, except itself to the slab. Cheers! If you want to lookup what i mean just google "how to install a floating wall system"

Not sure if it’s the same in Wisconsin but where I’m from the walls in basements have to be a floating wall. Glad to see you got treated lumber for the bottom plate. You guys should do the electrical first if she’s adding outlets in the new wall.
@daaneel7 ай бұрын
how do you make it floating? no anchors in the ground?
@trevorkimberlain26447 ай бұрын
@@daaneel well you have a bottom plate on the ground with anchors in it. Then about 8 inches off the ground is where your “floating wall” starts. You gotta hammer in big spikes to hold the wall to the bottom plate.
