When we had an antisemitic hate crime committed here in Colorado there was a Mosque that hosted a multi faith vigil with rabbis and ministers and it was one of the most powerful things I've ever experienced. Seeing those three communities come together with so much love and support from a different religion welcoming people into their place of worship was truly beautiful. When I was doing work with refugee and immigrant rights I was given so much love and so many learning opportunities. It's so interesting seeing people from multi-cultural / ethnic societies so intrigued or surprised by the multifacetedness of Islam. In my country (Trinidad and Tobago) we have a lot of socio-economic and political issues that can be touched on but our three main religions are Christianity, Hinduism and Islam. Aspects of each are taught throughout primary and high school. There's no sideways glances at people in hijabs, burqas, kurtas, saris or robes. While there might be occasional racial tensions (typically from older folks), we all celebrate each other's respective holidays. Eid, Divali and Christmas are all public holidays. Christians go to Hindu prayers, Muslims light deyas for Divali and Hindus wear African garb for Emancipation day. There are so many sour points about T&T but the respect for each others religious practices (as a non-religious person myself) is something I truly admire about here and didn't realise wasn't common in multi-cultural societies until I travelled and spoke to foreigners more 🙂 Lovely couples with great chemistry!

I always wonder if some couples go home and answer, between each other, some of these questions that didn't get answered. Maybe they already know and don't want to publically talk about it, so they obviously wouldn't have to talk about them at home. Some of the questions in general in these episodes are questions that I think are really healthy in the relationship and encourage communication between couples, which could NOT be encouraged enough. Depending on some reactions you can tell that there's some communication lacking (again, in general in these episodes) at home probably. I wish them all the best.

Who has the best quality, best prices, what jobs are unfilled. She was a Bio-Technion making serious bank, He's a violinist, and music teach in a public school, making not so much. But she quit her job to be a full time Mom, and she's great at it. Both sides parents come by daily, and always bring food, and something for the kids. This isn't specifically related to Muslim religion, its definitely a general "organized religion" issue. Saying you want your children to make their own decisions is commendable - but when you encourage them to like a specific religion by giving them "treats" during those religious holidays, etc - it really does sway their decision later in life, so it isn't truly their decision at that point.

You can’t just expect them to exclude their child from religious activities and holidays until they’re an adult. Obviously as a family they will be doing things together when it comes to these types of things. Having the treats during Ramadan is just a way to include their children during the holy month. In my personal opinion excluding children would be worse.

If the child sees their mother and father celebrating religious holidays and they aren’t included in those celebrations that could also cause some emotional harm to the child making them feel left out. You also can’t just say that the parents should hide their religion from their own children because that’s stupid, people should have the ability to practice religion freely in their own home.

Just a cycle of indoctrination. At some point they will be able to decide for themselves, but if everyone in their circle is participating...the person will most likely will be disowned and alienated.

When a child is under your household, you give them structure and stability. My religion is my child's religion because they have not yet grown up to be able to make a decision like that. I will raise them as Muslim and teach them about Islam, because religion is not a club we join for a part of our lives, it's a way of life and a perspective. If I want what's best for my children, I will raise them with the beliefs I believe are right. When they reach an age where they are able to confidently make a decision of what they believe in, that is their choice alone. I don't think that we need to raise our children neutral in everything, just because it is "politically correct."

I want to ask a question without being offensive, the girl wearing the hijab has tattoos... is that allowed for Muslims or maybe she converted later, because drinking and tattoos falls under the same category imo
@onemillionpercent Жыл бұрын
she converted after most likely because she seems devout and tattoos are prohibited
