i wish all "research behind the looks" videos were as extended and informative as the ones for germany!
@MrLMxD9 жыл бұрын
Melanie Bush Oh c'mon !! It has nothing to do with what you're thinking. This one is more extensive because they wanted to talked about more aspects of Germany, it isn't nothing related to status or whatever goes in your mind. And if it crosses your mind, I'm not from Germany and the country I am in is being affect by severe austerity measures, so don't even go that way. This is only a matter of not being unfair in this particular matter.
@MelanieBush19899 жыл бұрын
MrLMxD ?????? what r u talking about buddy i just said i want all the videos to be like this one what's ur issue i didn't say or imply anything about status wth i just let CUT know that making videos this long has probably more appeal because people are genuinely interested why are u so ready to fight i was just giving positive feedback
@MrLMxD9 жыл бұрын

@katrinnaumann40579 жыл бұрын
Gavin Cubillo i think they made this long Video about Germany because, their history had more to tell (execpt for the last 100 years not always). I mean there were manipulated by austrian (is it right?) Hitler and his Regime until there were proud of ihm (i dont trink that all germans know what he did). And then Honecker and Ulbrich build the Berlin Wall ( at first this two said "Niemand hat die Absicht eine Mauer zu bauen" it means = "No one wants to build a wall") so Germany was splitted in two parts and there were more Styles to Talk about, until the "Wende" (i dont know how to say it in Englisch) came in 1989 and The wall falls and Germany becomes one Country. So I agree with you but i trink there is just more to tell about Germany or even India in this way :) SORRY for my bad Englisch i am from italy

definitely, its not ignorant, it is just that its based on your country so you will obviously check it out first. I started out with USA as it appeared to me first, but then jumped to India, because it was simply a representation of my country.

In the 1980's you said her style was punk, but it is actually deathrock aka traditional goth, a subtype of punk. Btw, Germany is actually the "home" of goth style, and it's huge there 'till today.
@doommagic8 жыл бұрын
+Beatriz C. Pereira (Baby Bat) Doesn't that still make it punk either way then?
@BabyBat148 жыл бұрын
Doommagic Well, yes and no. It can be considered both a subtype of punk and goth. Still, I'd say it's more accurate to call it goth, since the style itself not only represents traditional goth culture as it's also very different from "punk" itself. Deathrock came from punk, and it could consequentially be considered part of it, but still, it's more precise to call it goth other than punk.
@HalleyHaywirez8 жыл бұрын
+Doommagic it emerged from punk music but had darker undertones and was know as post punk and from there, death rock
@Saeuglingsfledermaus8 жыл бұрын
+Beatriz C. Pereira (Baby Bat) From an American point of view, you would be right. However, in Germany the term "Deathrock" wasn't really used in the 80s, same with Goth. People with that sort of aesthetic would have been called "(Dark-) Punks", "Wavers" or "Grufties"- also dependent on their musical taste and self-categorisation. When Punk moved towards Goth in Germany, the categories were not so well-defined. So in this context the model could be considered punk. From a modern, globalised standpoint: Yeah, could be Deathrock/ Trad Goth. In the context of that time: Punk.
@janet23498 жыл бұрын
I believe it was punk in the beginning but turned to Goth later on. Also, I believe the whole movement developed in the west and not east, because there people were more restricted on what they could read/see/listen to/wear, and artists like Joy Division or the germans Einstürzende Neubauten always played in the west.

First I was confused when he mentioned that they kinda copied the look of 'Nina' from the 80's. I was like 'What do they want with Nina Hagen?!' until I realised that he ment Nena. I always have to remember myself that English speaking people pronounce these letters different than we do in Germany. *facepalm* 😁
@DineLade8 жыл бұрын
+ise red yeah, I misunderstood it at first, too^^ but even though when I then saw the picture and realized he meant Nena, I still thought of Nina Hagen ... and now I can't get "Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen" out of my head. Soul G. Bill Kaulitz' look at the zenit of Tokio Hotel was an amalgamation of different 3rd generation subcultures in Germany... he mainly used styles made popular by the emo and partly gothic scene. Gothic in itself is one of many successors of punk culture, so thats where the similarities come from. But Bill Kaulitz = Punk? No.

Oliver Loser Well no. If it was in Scandinavia than it would be in Scandinavia. It is Germany. Germany also border to France.. is that part French than? But I get your point, but I will also say that just because the northern part of Germany is close to the southern part of Denmark that it does not mean that the rest of Denmark or Scandinavia has the complete same hairstyles, cloths and so on as Germany. Being from Scandinavia I can say that Germany is like a totally different people and culture to us. We always kept more to ourselves, it kind of is in our culture to be more reserved. :)
