It's just sometimes you have parts manufactured to identical specs but under different specification papers, and you've got no required parts but a whole stock of identical parts, and it's possible to convert them (since they're identical!) but it takes some paperwork and you don't always have the time for that.

i work in printing and this sounds like me and my supervisor when we have a 5000 page mailer on "RUSH" order sometimes we run out of a paper type and to save time you "upgrade" them but it messes with stock numbers and managements not a fan of free upgrades
