IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please ALWAYS use resin with proper precautions including wearing proper PPEs (glove, mask, respirator etc) AND working in a well ventilated space. I recommend getting a hold of the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) info that every resin company has available to the public (by law). This has all the info about the resin you are using including the precautions you need to take and first aid care. Watch my resin safety video for more info: • RESIN SAFETY | Importa...
Supplies I used were purchased from many places including my local craft stores, Etsy, Ebay, Amazon, Sophie&Toffee, Miniature Sweets, and Aliexpress. I'm sorry, I can longer link everything I used in this video.
Resin I use: affiliate links are marked with *

-Faux Rizzle Noveau coating resin: artresinfauxrizzle.com

Why do I use two different types of resin in my projects?
I use a casting resin to cast and a doming resin for doming.
Casting resin is usually low in viscosity and works very well in molds without much issue with the bubbles. Also the low viscosity will allow the resin to reach detailed area of the mold. Doming resin is thick in viscosity and holds its shape very nicely. It creates a full dome and tends to hold the surface tension much better than low viscosity resin. So lower risk of the resin dripping off the sides. It also gives the piece a smooth, flawless finish.

I really liked the idea of punching shapes out of shrink plastic to make the internal bits, I have numerous small punches (butterflies, hearts etc) and I thought it would be great to punch shapes out of Shrink plastic I've printed patterns on, punch small holes in them, use the heat gun then use them as beads or charms for cards. Any left over shrink plastic such as the border I can stamp sentiments on for cards : )

@AmyMade

Yes great name! As long as the mold is transparent, you can use with UV resin. But the mold take a a lot of volume so it may not be cost effective with uv resin.

@@AmyMade thank you for your attention!! i use high viscosity resin for both, but when im dooming, the resin wont stick to the edges of the piece and will all concentrate in the middle, sometimes it does but just in some parts and the piece gets a very unevenly finish, maybe im using too much uv resin to seal the plastic?? :/

I’m noticing some slightly different approaches/details and I’m curious to learn more in case it saves me some time: 1) In previous projects, you backed the handmade shakers bits with acrylic paint before sealing them with mod podge. I’m not sure if it’s because there was a different medium used to colors the backs, but I notice it wasn’t shown or mentioned here. Is it because it’s not needed when using those markers? 2) Liquid pigment looks to be a little preferable lately, or maybe it’s just a coincidence that it’s being used more than powder pigment. Do you have a preference as far as what you find easier to work with? As always, adore your videos:)
@AmyMade
@AmyMade 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! I normally paint the back if I want the pieces to be opaque. For the pieces in the video, I didn’t need to do that since I used posca markers. They’re acrylic paint markers so they turn out opaque. I use liquid pigment mostly since I can get a wide range of shades depending on the amount I put in and also I can mix colors with better results.
