I would imagine some mana fixing cards like chromatic lantern would be beneficial to cast the cards you rip from your opponent because a single treasure off of the monkey might not always cut it.

I made a card that's close to this month's ago. But it steals artifacts. It's a Goblin monkey so I just called it a Goblin. Immortal Jack UB Legendary Creature - Goblin Pirate Hexproof, indestructible Whenever ~ deals damage to an opponent, that player creates a Gold token, then you gain control of a nontoken artifact they control chosen at random . Curious like a monkey, mischievous like a goblin.

So in other words, the best way to exploit Ragavans ability is with double strike, flying, death touch, and indestructible, while having enchants and creature abilities that multiply his token generation. Use a bunch of direct damage instants, and you have a good strategy.

OMG DASH IS BACK!!!!! (dragons of tarkir was the first cards I got and I have always loved red white black in any combo and I love the dash mechanic) Also I love pirates because the first planeswalker I got was angrath minotaur pirate (which was from the precondition deck in the one set with pirates dinosaurs and vampire conquistadors I can never remember what it is called) and one time when I was at my local game store this abosulite legend had an edited deck with angrath with a bunch of better pirates and gave them to me for free so this is gonna be in the deck. Maybe ill make a commander deck (I prefer multicolor decks. I think they are more interesting in most cases but there is a lot of good red pirates who knows) with it but I wanna buy breket and this does go well with breket as well.

Does dash just avoid commander tax? Do you gaim commander tax like every time you cast it with dash cost, but you still only pay2? Isnt that cards that do special things based on the number of time you've cast your commander from your command zone?

Dash doesn't avoid commander tax when you use it from the command zone, because you are still casting it. But remember that it returns to HAND at the end of turn, and when casting from hand your commander doesn't use (or increase) the tax.

Unfortunately, you are casting it with an alternative cost, and not putting it onto the battlefield with an activated ability. This means the tax would apply, though it does end up in your hand afterward, for better or for worse.

The card may be a weak commander, but it's an incredibly strong piece in the 99 imo But also Malcolm is honestly way stronger than he looks, he leads a cEDH deck because he goes infinite with glinthorn buccaneer

@@johnbaird6752 Yea, Malcolm is a cEDH commander but it's a lot more tame in a pirate tribal deck. It's definitely a good turn 1 play in the 99, although probably not as good as a dork though.

@@davidiswhat yeah pirate tribal is a nice fun casual deck, Malcolm is respectable but fair when you don't build around the 1 card combo I actually built a pirateless pirate storm deck starring Malcolm (stole the idea from online lol) where you use pingers and type changing effects to get tons of treasures whenever you cast cantrips

Yes, because even though they dont have Mana costs, every card has a Converted Mana Cost(aka Mana Value), lands too... The whole decks were made on this interaction like Living End in modern and banned Hypergenesis(?)
