Oh Nik! You’ve cheered up my morning with your humorous dialogue. I watch so many videos where they’re planned, practised, prepped and polished, that it’s really refreshing to watch yours, so original and funny! It’s good to know that you make mistakes, errors of judgment with sizes etc., because I can identify with all that. But your projects always look amazing! Thank you for bringing some sunshine into my day! Incidentally, I’m in the UK and the sun is shining but it’s 7 deg C. (I don’t know what that is in Fahrenheit), not very warm, but then it’s only 6am. 🙂

Loved the video. I enjoy making things that don't require me to buy a bunch stuff in order to make it. I occasionally have to go places after dark by myself. I'm very aware of the environment around me when I'm out. Acting confident is a must. Any sign of weakness makes you a target. Also, I get in the car and immediately lock all the doors before I do anything else. Even putting the keys in the ignition, or making any adjustments. I live in a fairly safe area but I don't take chances.

Wow, this brought back memories! I was with someone (I can't remember if it was my mom or when I was in Scouts or...) and we made these using tuna cans. Actually, back in the day, tuna cans and cat food cans were the SAME SIZE!! We had no hot glue. I think we just stuffed ours with nylons, and painted the base with spray paint. We covered the top by gluing felt around the outside, then stitching the top to the felt. Then we covered our seamline with gaudy trim. Your videos area always so relaxing and entertaining Nik. Thanks!

Tricking a cat isn't easy, I hear. :D Made me giggle a lot, so thank you! This pin cushion is really cute!! I've made pin cushions in small coffee cups, but non as cute as this one. Great idea with lavender, rosemary and sea salt too! And, fabric sniper rolls are fab to use in journals as embellishments! :) I totally get the Plan B- thing... I think all women, wherever they live, learn to have keys in their hand when out after dark. I know many nice men that wouldn't, but it's the ones I don't know I can't take a chance with... Where I live, in Sweden, we have rain today. It's really good with rain, for nature, for rinsing off pollen and as an excuse for making crafts inside. :) I'm pondering on making a herbarium junk journal... with pressed flowers and plants. Rainy days are good for pondering. :) I wish you a great weekend, Nik! :)

When I made a similar one for my Mom, with felted wool, I gathered a few nuts, bolts and small rocks into a cloth bag (tiny) for weight. Everything you spoke about was highly relatable, like my lupus also absolutely refuses to appreciate any time that I spend in direct sunlight. The first thing I hear when I don't wear makeup is "You look exhausted! Are you okay?". My mother is fond of asking if someone murdered my dog, if I'm not wearing makeup. She thinks she's funny. This was perfect Nik, only thing lacking would have been smell-a-vision, LoL 🤣. Thanks for being you, wouldn't have it any other way. God bless you young lady 💕. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

I separate my keys and put them between my fingers.. I would go for the eyes if someone ever came at me so they wouldn't see where I was going. I'm 63 and five feet tall. My sister and I call it "small by mighty".

I have to agree with you on women going out at night. I offered to pay my husband to go to the grocery store with me last night. Kidding. He just offered out of the blue. I felt so much safer! Normally, I'm watching like a hawk, and going through the whole check list you mentioned. Most days it's just not worth it to go out. I just wait for tomorrow.

Not to be a "Donna" but salt will corrode your pins, the steel wool and the tin eventually. If you use crushed walnuts, the kind used for lizards, it lubricates the pins with a bit of walnut oil so they slide through fabric better, makes the pins last longer and the job easier. OK, "Donna how to do over". :) Cutie little pincushion!

Ha! That cracked me up 😆 I don't have any pins long enough to make it down to the salt, but yes, you're right, hat or boutonnière pins may! I'd swap out sand or kitty litter as some comments suggest. =)

Super cute, looks like a sprinkle top cupcake! ***runs to the kitchen to check what cans of cat food we use. (so funny, you said sprinkle cupcake as I was writing 😂)
