Cute Tree Angels in Watercolor - Easy Quick Christmas Card, Gift Tag or Tree Decoration

Every year I hang three little wooden angels on the tree for Christmas. These little angels have been with me through thick and thin, and have lived on three continents with me. Somehow they have managed to stick around despite all the upheaval in my life. This year I decided to use them as models for a set of three tree decorations, and in this video I tell you why.

What a great idea to use your retro ornaments as inspiration for paintings! I love them. I have a few little tree ornaments that my husband and I bought when we were first married and went to Austria just before Christmas in 1982 or something. Some of them are broken but I still have them as they are handmade and really sweet. Thanks for the inspirations. I’d like to use them in my December daily.

I’m pretty sure my three angels came from Germany originally. I did spend a lot of time over there in those countries, Germany and Austria in the 80s. Wish I’d stayed! I have some cherished ornaments on my tree as well that my grandmother got from the flower shop she worked at in the late 60’s early 70’s. The accordion is called a squeeze box sometimes, and the stringed instrument is a viol. These are a delightful remembrance of both your mother and of your first Christmas tree decorations. I can't wait to try these. Happy Christmas!

I love the story. I bought something similar when I first moved to Germany in 1984. It was my first Christmas with my husband and we loved going to the Christmas Markets. They had all kinds of these little ornaments...I believe I still have them - although I don't put them on the tree any more. Lovely little memory keepsakes though....❣ I have been using a set of Meilaing for quite awhile - and I really like them. I look forward to your review of them.

I used to like to go to the Christmas markets in Germany too, when I lived there in the late eighties. I think my little angels are German. Although I bought them before I lived in Germany I was already interested in all things German and that’s probably why I chose them although I don’t remember now. I will get those paints out soon and give them a try. They look like a box of sweets!

What brand paper and white pen did you use? Thanks 😊

I'm not sure what make of paper it was, but it was 300lb weight cold press watercolor paper, 100% cotton. Any thick paper or light card would be fine though. I just happened to have that piece lying around. The white pen is this one: amzn.to/3VKkhdx
